Father José Manuel León is the new Auxiliary Bishop of Caracas.
The Holy See announced, on March 18, 2026, the appointment of a new auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Caracas: Father José Manuel León.
Father José Manuel León was born in Barquisimeto on October 29, 1966. He served as a priest for 32 years in the Passionist Congregation. He holds a degree in Educational Sciences from the Central University of Venezuela and studied Philosophy and Theology at ITER and the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome. (UPS)

We thank the Holy Father for the trust he has placed in our brother and we congratulate him, joining in prayer with the Lord so that he may fill him with the gift of His Spirit to carry out the service that, supported by His grace, He has entrusted to him.

At the Solemn Commemoration of the Passion of the Lord, Title of the Passionist Congregation, celebrated on the Friday before Ash Wednesday, at the SPC Shrine, Provincial Superior Fr. Henrique Evangelista de Oliveira CP blessed the commemorative image of Saint Paul of the Cross. The moment marked the celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the canonization of our Founder.
