This Labour Day, We stand with all workers and especially girls who have faced exploitation, trafficking, abuse, and unsafe labour. We affirm that every girl deserves safety, education, dignity, and a chance to thrive.

Yesterday we had a privilege of hosting Optica Kenya at our Shelter, and what unfolded was a beautiful moment of care and transformation.

One by one, the girls sat for eye screenings, some experiencing their very first check-up in their lives. There was patience, kindness, and attention to detail in every interaction.

Beyond the medical care, there were conversations, about protecting vision, about health, and about believing in a future where every girl can see clearly and confidently step into her dreams.

For those identified with eye challenges, hope did not end there. They were assured continued support, including glasses and frames, a simple intervention with a powerful impact.

We are grateful for this day. Because sometimes, healing begins with something as simple as being able to see clearly again.

Everyone deserves to live, learn, and work in an environment free from harm, abuse, and exploitation. By raising awareness and strengthening safeguarding practices, we protect dignity, build trust, and create safer communities for all.

Speak up. Stay aware. Protect others.

Girls’ education is not just about classrooms, uniforms, or exam results. It is about freedom, dignity, and the power to change the future.

Across the world, and in many communities close to home, millions of girls still wake up every day carrying burdens far heavier than school bags. Some walk long distances to fetch water instead of walking to school. Some are forced into early marriages before they can even finish childhood. Others sit in classrooms fighting silence, poverty, or the belief that their dreams matter less simply because they are girls.

But when a girl is educated, everything changes.

Yesterday, we did more than walk, we moved with purpose, conviction, and a shared vision for the future.

The 3rd Annual TAGS Fundraising Walk in Karura Forest was not just an event; it was a statement. A statement that education is the foundation of change. That every girl who dreams of a classroom deserves a chance. That every step we take together is a step toward breaking cycles of poverty, early marriage, and inequality.

we walked alongside an incredible community of supporters, and we were reminded that real change is collective. Every donation, every cheer, every shared story, every T-shirt worn is part of a larger movement, a movement to empower young girls, transform communities, and ultimately, shape nations.
Educating a girl is more than a moral imperative, it is a national strategy for progress. Each lesson she receives has the power to lift families, inspire communities, and redefine futures. Yesterday, we witnessed that power in motion.

To everyone who joined us, whether by walking, donating, volunteering, or amplifying our mission, thank you. Your commitment and belief are the driving force behind every step, every achievement, and every story of transformation. Centre for Domestic Training and Development Valary Cheptoo

Eid Mubarak!
As we celebrate this beautiful season of gratitude, compassion, and togetherness, we are reminded of the importance of uplifting and protecting the most vulnerable among us.

At Talia Agler Girls Shelter, every day is a commitment to restoring hope, dignity, and opportunity for girls in need. This Eid, may we all be inspired to extend kindness, share what we have, and stand in solidarity with those who need it most.

May your hearts be full, your homes be peaceful, and your giving spirit shine brighter than ever.

While the world celebrated International Women’s Day, many women and girls facing violence, abuse, and exploitation continued to suffer in silence. For those trapped in cycles of trafficking, domestic violence, or extreme vulnerability, global celebrations mean little without real intervention and protection.

Women’s Month must therefore be more than a celebration; it must be a reminder that the fight for rights, safety, and dignity for every woman and girl continues every day.

Today, it is the International Day Against Sexual Exploitation.

Today, we place a strong focus on child protection.

Sexual exploitation robs children of their innocence, safety, and future. It happens in homes, online spaces, schools, workplaces, and across borders. It is fueled by abuse of power, poverty, manipulation, and silence. And too often, children are left unprotected by the very systems meant to keep them safe.

Let us be clear: children can never consent to exploitation. They must be protected, always.

This day calls on parents, caregivers, communities, institutions, and governments to strengthen prevention, improve reporting systems, enforce child protection laws, and ensure survivors receive care, justice, and support without stigma.

Protecting children is not optional. It is a responsibility.

Girls in Kenya face multiple barriers to education, climate-related disasters disrupted learning for over 2 million learners in 2024, and 2.5 million children remain out of school.

Girls affected by trafficking and abuse face even greater challenges, often missing out on safe learning opportunities, digital literacy, and pathways to reintegration.

You can make a difference! Support CDTD’s project on GlobalGiving to educate and empower trafficked and abused girls. Your contribution helps girls stay in school, access quality learning, and reclaim their futures.
