Kenya Association Of Waste Recyclers is participating in a stakeholder engagement convened by Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) on the Proposed Standards Regulations, 2026 at Weston Hotel.
The discussions cover three draft regulations: the Standards (Product Certification) Regulations, 2026, which set out how products are certified to meet Kenyan standards; the Standards (Testing and Designation of Laboratories) Regulations, 2026, which provide the framework for recognition and operation of testing laboratories; and the Standards (Scientific and Industrial Metrology) Regulations, 2026, which govern measurement accuracy, calibration, and quality assurance systems used across industry.
These regulations are important to the recycling sector because recycled materials are increasingly being used as industrial raw material inputs. Decisions on certification, testing, and quality assurance can directly affect how recycled materials and products are recognized, accepted, and traded in the market.
Kenya Association of Waste Recyclers is participating to advocate for the recognition of recycled raw materials as legitimate industrial inputs, recognition of products derived from recycled materials, and appropriate standards and labelling frameworks that support their wider use.
