Elizabeth Ngala lived alone in a small mud hut that was full of gaps and could not keep out the rain. During the rainy season, water flowed directly inside, leaving her vulnerable to dampness and unsafe conditions. To try and protect herself from cold winds and predators, she had covered the openings with old sacks, but the shelter remained fragile and unstable. Without clean water, electricity, or a pit latrine, Elizabeth struggled daily in an environment that denied her safety. Elizabeth now lives in a complete house with a washroom, bed, mattress, blanket and solar light, and is deeply grateful for her new home.
