RKF - Kidney Health Lecture Series III: Advancing Kidney Care Through Lived Experience & Innovation, convened healthcare leaders, clinicians, researchers, nephrologists, renal nurses, patient advocates, caregivers and partners for a dialogue on the future of kidney health in Kenya exploring prevention and early diagnosis, patient-centred care, psychosocial support, innovation, organ donation, nursing leadership and health systems strengthening.

Speakers included Ronald Kasyoka - Founder RKF - the Kidney Health Foundation, Dr. Stephen Mutiso - National Renal Program at the GoK Ministry of Health, Dr. Hussein Bagha - Consultant Physician & Nephrologist, Dr. Khalida Soki, Dr. Nelson Otieno - AstraZeneca, John Gikonyo - Renal Patients Society of Kenya

A particularly moving moment was the lived experience spotlight by Felicita Churie, a living kidney donor, author and advocate, who shared her journey of kidney donation, caring for her late son and transforming personal loss into a lifelong commitment to hope and advocacy.

The Lecture Series also marked the unveiling of RenAmi – Your Kidney Friend, a digital platform designed to strengthen kidney health education, support and community engagement, and the launch of The Kidney Health Magazine, a quarterly publication dedicated to advancing research, clinical excellence, advocacy, innovation, policy dialogue and lived experience.

The reality is that kidney disease can affect anyone, at any age. Young people and even children are living with kidney disease today.

Breaking these misconceptions is important so that more people take kidney health, screening, and early diagnosis seriously.
