It was a wonderful time of learning, creativity, and hands-on training at Dorcas Creation Kenya, bringing together women, young men and children, to learn practical skills in crocheting, beadwork, mat making, yoghurt making, and jam making.
For the children, the training was an opportunity to discover their abilities, express their creativity, and explore what they can create with their own hands, building confidence from an early age.
For the women and young people, it provided practical skills to support self-reliance, income generation, and improved livelihoods.

Celebrating Cohort 9
Last week, we proudly celebrated the graduation of 31 graduates from Cohort 9, marking the successful completion of their 10-week skills training at Dorcas Creation Kenya.
Our graduates completed training in Computer Studies, Hairdressing, Beauty, Tailoring, and Catering, gaining practical skills to help them create opportunities and move forward with confidence.
Through dedication and hard work, they were equipped to earn a living, serve their communities, and build a brighter future for themselves and their families.
We are incredibly proud of their achievement and look forward to hearing about their future successes and the difference they will make.

Through the collaborative efforts of Dorcas Creation Kenya, Bethany Kids, and other valued partners, children in our Nawiri Mama Program are experiencing life changing support.

Following comprehensive assessments of 30 children, 23 children received assistive devices, giving them greater mobility, increased independence, and renewed hope for the future.
These devices will help the children improve their participation in everyday activities, improve their quality of life, and ease the burden on their caregivers.

Together, we are creating opportunities, restoring dignity, and helping children with disabilities reach their full potential.

At Dorcas Creation Kenya, our mothers of disabled children continue to find healing through safe spaces where they can openly share their experiences, reflect on their journeys, and encourage one another.
During a time away with them, mothers engaged in meaningful conversations, shared their struggles and testimonies, and enjoyed moments of fun and connection. These experiences continue to strengthen emotional well-being, nurture healthier family relationships, and remind every mother that she is seen, heard, and supported.

This week, Dorcas Creation convened a community engagement forum to address recurring flooding challenges and strengthen local ownership of solutions.
The discussion was open and constructive, with residents sharing lived experiences, practical ideas, and a clear desire for change. What stood out most was the community’s willingness to take responsibility and lead from within.

Key outcomes from the meeting:
-A community-led committee was established to oversee drainage and waste management
-A coordinated drainage clean-up exercise is scheduled for next week
-The area Chief will convene landlords to address waste management practices within rental properties
This is a strong example of what can happen when communities are empowered, engaged, and organized around shared challenges.

Today, Dorcas Creation Kenya, in collaboration with Special Education Professionals, facilitated an impactful mental health session for the Nawiri Mama women at the DCK Centre.

After the session, the women refreshed their minds and bodies through engaging sports activities. It was their first time participating in sports without feeling judged, and the excitement was evident.
They went home feeling confident, happy, and deeply encouraged.
