The 21st Biennial World Council for Gifted and Talent Children conference was held in Odense, Denmark, the home of renowned author of children’s books, Hans Christian Andersen on the 23rd August. Our very own, Professor Humphrey Oborah, who became the first ever African to be elected Secretary General of the World Talent body, was re-elected to the post, recognizing his efforts and endless strive against the odds to advocate for Gifts and Talents in Africa and in the improvement of the quality of education in Kenya through talent based learning.

WHAT IS AUTISM? Autism is a disorder of neural development characterized by impaired social interaction and verbal and non-verbal communication, and by restricted, repetitive or stereotyped behavior. The diagnostic criteria require that symptoms become apparent before a child is three years old. It is distinguished not by a single symptom, but by a characteristic triad of symptoms: impairments in social interaction; impairments in communication; and restricted interests and repetitive behavior. Other aspects, such as atypical eating, are also common but are not essential for diagnosis.
