As we speak about climate action, stewardship and the future, we must also speak about .

Our children are not only learners. They are also the future stewards of the environment. The future caregivers of our communities. And the future leaders we are helping shape today. But that future can only grow where children are protected now.

Please stay alert.
Know where your children are. Walk with them when you can. Keep close communication with schools, caregivers and neighbours. Do not ignore unusual situations. A child’s safety is never a small matter.

If we want to raise a generation that will care for the land, we must first make sure they are safe in the land.

Protection is part of love.
Protection is part of leadership.
Protection is part of building a better future.

What helps children thrive most in your community? Is it support at home, support at school, or both🤔?

For us, the answer is often both. Children do better when the support around them is connected, consistent and practical.

That is why we like listening to the people closest to the work: caregivers, teachers and community members who see what children need every day.

Last week, we carried out our termly assessments with the stewards in our program schools and homesteads in Nyandarua and Nakuru counties.

It was encouraging to see clear progress both in the trees and in the children caring for them. The seedlings are establishing well and the stewards are showing greater responsibility and understanding of what it means to care for something over time.

As part of the assessment process, education support was also issued through cheques to the stewards based on their accumulated progress points. This approach helps reinforce the connection between environmental stewardship, consistency and support for learning.

Over the next few months, we are hopeful to begin seeing even more visible milestones, especially as some of the fruit trees move closer toward fruition.

Yes, growth takes time. But when children grow alongside the trees they care for, the impact reaches far beyond the environment.

Involve The Children was built on a simple belief: that children should not only be protected but also equipped to become active stewards of their future. We bring together education support, environmental action and community participation in a way that is local and long-term.

This short video from one of our directors gives a grounded introduction to the thinking behind ITC — the people, the purpose and the approach that guides us. This , we are reminded Climate crisis and ecosystem degradation are no longer distant concerns. They are realities shaping how families live, learn and adapt every day.

At Involve The Children, we believe that resilience begins early. When children learn to care for trees, soil and water, they are not only participating in environmental action. They are developing habits of stewardship that can help their homes and communities. It is about shaping the responsibility.

Real solutions are local, rooted and sustained through everyday action.

A child struggling to stay in school is often living inside the same conditions created by environmental stress: degraded land, declining farm productivity, water insecurity, economic pressure etc etc, at household level.

This is why and should not be approached as parallel conversations.
