🌳 Most tree planting fails after planting.

Not because people don’t care but because they don’t know what to do next.

these 3 simple things:

Water early
Protect from animals
Use mulchs

That should make the difference!

Tree planting is often treated like a finish line. In reality, it is only the beginning.

What matters most is what happens after the tree goes into the ground. Watering. Mulching. Protection from animals. Regular follow-up. Shared at home.

That is why our work starts with and . When they understand the purpose of the tree and take part in caring for it, the chances of survival improve.

That is also where the lesson goes deeper. A who learns to care for a tree learns patience, consistency, and responsibility.

In Kenya, environmental degradation continues to affect , and .
For rural families, that’s daily life.

That’s why we focus on small, practical solutions:
-planting trees within homesteads and involving children in caring for them

Because resilience doesn’t start at scale but at home.
Enjoy your weekend!😊

Before the trees, there are children

-School uniforms
-Shoes
-Basic support

These are small things but they change whether a child shows up.
We’re building something bigger and this is where it starts.

Can a child really make a difference in climate action 🤔 ?

Not alone. But a generation that understands the land can change everything.

Most climate solutions focus on scale.
We’re focusing on behaviour because one child who understands soil, water, and trees doesn’t just plant once.

They keep going.
That’s the long game.

In rural Kenya, climate change and child poverty feed each other: failed crops mean hunger, missed school, and extra chores.

At Involve the Children, we empower kids to protect the environment through tree planting and ecosystem education, while supporting their schooling - building resilience for children, families, and communities.

We aim to cultivate a deep commitment to environmental stewardship in underprivileged children while disrupting the cycle of poverty through education support.

🎒 At the beginning of every school term, children in our program are rewarded based on how well they’ve cared for the trees planted at their homes.

Their points turn into real support - covering school fees, meals, learning materials, and other essentials.

This approach isn’t about handouts. It’s about recognizing effort, responsibility, and consistency. By linking support to commitment, we uphold dignity, nurture accountability, and see far greater impact.

and young people are the least responsible for climate damage.
Yet they carry the greatest burden.
This is why climate plans, budgets and decisions must place them at the centre.

Not as an afterthought, but from the start.
At Involve the Children, we see what happens when young people are included early.

They don’t just learn. They act, consistently and practically.
The question is not whether they should be involved.
It’s whether we are doing enough to make space for them.

According to , 242 million students in 85 countries had their schooling disrupted by extreme climate events in 2024.

That is not a distant climate story. It is a children’s story.

At Involve The Children, this is why we start with trees and education together. Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) notes that agroforestry can improve soil fertility, conserve water, reduce erosion and support biodiversity.

So we work with children to plant and care for trees in their homesteads, while supporting their education. Small actions, done consistently, can build stronger land and stronger futures.
