Ali Roba Foundation Meets Community Leaders to Coordinate Fair Ramadan Food Aid Distribution Amid Ongoing Drought
The Ali Roba Foundation has convened a coordination meeting with community leaders, women representatives, and local stakeholders in Mandera County to harmonize the distribution of Ramadan food assistance in response to the ongoing drought affecting vulnerable households.
Under the Foundation’s intervention, 2,000 households in Mandera South will be supported, with each family receiving 32 kilograms of assorted foodstuffs, and each ward benefiting 400 households, ensuring equitable and transparent allocation.
In addition, the Foundation has partnered closely with the leadership of Mandera County, working alongside Members of Parliament, who have committed to supplement the food basket within their respective constituencies.
Through this partnership, targeted beneficiaries will receive an additional 3 litres of cooking oil and 5 kilograms of dates, enhancing the nutritional value of the Ramadan support package and easing the burden on vulnerable families during the holy month.
Beyond immediate relief, the Foundation also announced plans to launch a Women Empowerment Program in Mandera County in April 2026, aimed at strengthening household resilience and promoting sustainable livelihoods.
As part of the preparatory process, the Foundation’s secretariat met with women representatives from the five wards in Mandera South. Each ward was advised to form groups comprising 75 women from the sub-county headquarters and 25 women from other areas, with each group receiving a seed fund of KSh 50,000 to open a bank account and initiate income generating activities.
The Ali Roba Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to working collaboratively with elected leaders, community representatives, and local institutions to ensure that humanitarian assistance is delivered fairly, transparently, and with lasting impact.
