Karura Ka Nyungu Community Development Initiative (KKCDI) Karura Kanyungu Community Development Initiative

Karura Kanyungu Community Development Initiative is a social experiment on a massive scale to transform Karura Kanyungu Village into a self-reliant and resilient model rural town. Becoming a Community Initiative doesn't give Karura Kanyungu any particular solutions for how the residents will face the future. Rather, it's just a recognition that a collection of local individuals have agreed to seek

a community response to the challenges of development and to abide by certain philosophies and guidelines in developing Karura Kanyungu to a better area. The Initiative hopes to make this feasible, viable and attractive since it is convinced that if we: -

•wait for the Government to help the community, it'll be too little, too late;
•act as individuals to ensure community empowerment, it'll be too little; but
•act as a community now, it might just be enough, just in time. As a Development Initiative, we promote people who are learning by doing - and learning all the time; people who understand that we can’t sit back and wait for someone else to do the development work in the village for us; people like you, perhaps!
