As the year ends, we ask ourselves several questions. Is Kenya on the verge of a visual arts renaissance? The year has been a landmark year. From the young, engaged crowds at "New Wave" to the powerful community ethos of the Art Collective and the global reach of muralists like kioko, the energy is palpable. Kenyan visual art is evolving, becoming a vital mirror and megaphone for a new generation.

But as our latest article explores, this growth is fragile. The sector faces systemic challenges—from a lack of a unified body and uneven visibility to artists reliance on external donor funded projects where they have to further the agenda of these specific organizations. .

Find out how FVA is positioning itself to better address these challenges. hashtag hashtag

For far too long, visual arts have been dismissed as "just art"—a field where painters are reduced to "mtu wa rangi" and sculptors labeled merely as "welders." A sector where creativity is exploited for aesthetics while artists struggle for fair recognition, let alone compensation.

The truth? Society underestimates visual arts because it has been silenced—systematically overlooked, rarely discussed with the weight it deserves. Yet every day, it shapes our world: from the billboards we see to the brands we trust, from cultural preservation to social commentary. Why, then, is it treated as lesser than fields that contribute no more to global economic growth?

For Visual Artists (FVA) not only going to change how the world sees art, It is going to transform it using it as a force to fight global injustices and rally behind the Sustainable development goals.
