Hands of Love Educational Centre

Our founder Terry Little lost his mother, Faith Little, this week. She was 100 years old.

The whole Hands of Love family — our children, teachers and parents in Kariobangi — holds Terry and the Little family in our prayers.

Rest well, Faith Little.

Our PP1 class spent the day at the animal orphanage — and what a joy it was!

From wide eyes spotting lions and monkeys to giggles, questions, and pure wonder, our little ones soaked up every moment. Days like these remind us that learning happens far beyond the classroom.

A huge thank you to everyone who made this special outing possible.

Our children are growing, exploring, and discovering the world — one adventure at a time. ❤️

🌍 Our classroom just travelled the world — without leaving Kariobangi!

Yesterday, our Grade 1 learners connected live with students at Williston Central School in Vermont, USA. 🇰🇪🤝🇺🇸 They shared fun facts, sang songs, and made new friends across the ocean.

This follows a similar wonderful connection with a class from a school in Slovenia — and we're just getting started! We reconnect with our Vermont friends in September, with monthly meet-ups in the works.

Big thanks to Susan Stewart and our amazing teachers Lilian and Maurine for making the magic happen. ✨

It is not beyond our power to create a world in which all children have access to a good education. ~ Nelson Mandela in a recorded message for the launch of the Nelson Mandela Institute for Education & Rural Development, November 2007

Our hearts go out to everyone affected by today's devastating fire at Kariobangi Light Industries, just metres from our school. We're thankful no lives were lost, but many businesses — including those of at least two Hands of Love parents — have been destroyed.

Today, our Grade 1 children did something extraordinary. They sat down in front of a screen and waved hello to students at Ledina Elementary School in Ljubljana, Slovenia — thousands of miles away!

For many of our little ones, it was their very first time connecting with children from another country. And watching them realise that the world is full of friends they haven't met yet?

A huge thank you to Emina and the wonderful team at Ledina Elementary for making this happen. You've opened a window to the world for our children — and we couldn't be more grateful.

This is what education looks like at its best — not just books and classrooms, but hearts and minds expanding beyond borders.
