African Airlines Association The African Airlines Association (AFRAA) is a Trade Organisation open to membership of airlines of African States.

Conceived essentially as a non-profit regional organisation, the founding fathers of AFRAA were motivated by the desire to establish harmonious and effective co-operation between African Airlines. This would be a means of accelerating the realization of economic and social integration of African countries. To this effect, the objectives of the Association are:

* To promote the development o

f safe, reliable, economical and efficient air transport services to, from, within and through Africa and to study problems connected therein.
* To foster closer commercial and technical co-operation among African air transport enterprises.
* To serve as common forum for the articulation of the views of member airlines on matters and problems of common interest and the defence of such interests.
* Provide service that adds value to the efficiency, effectiveness, reliability and safety of member airlines.

Mr Daniel Moss, Manager โ€“ Government, Legal & Industry Affairs, participated in a Fireside Talk at the 17th Leiden IIASL International Air Law Conference held at Windhoek Country Club Resort, Namibia, on 16 April 2026. The session was moderated by Mia Wouters (GDS Advocaten).

The discussion explored key challenges facing Africaโ€™s airline industry, including the role of the Cape Town Convention in fleet modernisation, the use of technology as a pathway towards decarbonisation and net-zero emissions, and the use of AI.

Mr Moss also served as a judge at the 17th Leidenโ€“Sarin International Air Law Moot Court Competition โ€“ Windhoek 2026, which was hosted in Africa for the first time by the University of Namibia. The competition featured strong African representation from the UniversityofNamibia (Namibia), Strathmore University (Kenya), and Makerere University (Uganda).
