On this auspicious occasion of African Union Day, I would like to extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt wishes to all Africans across the continent and in the diaspora. Today, we celebrate the strength, unity, and resilience of Africa as a people and as a land rich in heritage, culture, and opportunities.
At the Kenya Pro-Aging Organization, this day holds a special place in our hearts. It is a reminder of our shared responsibility to create a continent where every generation, young and old, can thrive in dignity and prosperity. As we reflect on the African Union's principles of solidarity and the pursuit of shared progress, we recognize the importance of ensuring that Africa’s elders are not left behind. Aging is a journey that touches every family and community, and how we treat our elders today reflects our collective aspirations for the future.
The work we do at the Kenya Pro-Aging Organization aligns with the African Union’s vision of inclusive development, as outlined in Agenda 2063. We advocate for policies and programs that cater to the needs of older persons, promote their active participation in society, and ensure that they live healthy, fulfilled lives. In celebrating African Union Day, we reaffirm our commitment to contributing to Africa's social development through intergenerational solidarity and the promotion of age-friendly environments in Kenya and across the continent.
This day also serves as a call to action for African governments, civil society, and private institutions to collaborate in addressing the unique challenges faced by older persons.
