On today’s , we highlight the Trends in Civic Space report by Defenders Coalition.

The report examines how citizens perceived the civic space, pre and post the 2010 Constitution, in the context of freedoms of expression, association, assembly, equality and non-discrimination.

In 2024, CIVICUS Monitor placed Kenya’s civic space in the “repressed” category from “obstructed” reflecting growing concerns around restrictions on civic freedoms.

Check out what the report reveals about Kenya’s civic space here: defenderscoalition.org/wp-content/upl…

This week’s , takes us back to the intergenerational mentorship session held in August 2025 at the Haki Village grounds. Veteran and young HRDs, came together for mentorship and to share bold visions for a space designed to support those on the frontlines.
Through the “Climb for Justice: Climbing for Human Rights and Justice in Kenya” initiative, the Defenders Coalition secured the Haki Village grounds, envisioned as a resource hub for protection, research, training, innovation and wellness for HRDs.
