Yesterday, young content creators in Kibra came together through the Base Bila Noma (BBN) initiative to explore storytelling, content creation, fact-checking, ethical communication, and peace messaging.

Through conversations, practical exercises, and shared experiences, participants reflected on the power of stories to shape communities and inspire positive change.

Because every post, every video, and every story has the power to influence someone.

Every community has stories. The question is: What stories will we choose to tell?

Yesterday, young content creators, youth leaders, community representatives, and local stakeholders came together in Kibra through the Base Bila Noma initiative for an engaging training on Storytelling for Peace, Civic Participation, and Positive Community Influence.

Participants explored content strategy, storytelling, smartphone videography, fact-checking, ethical content creation, and peace messaging. Through discussions and practical exercises, they reflected on how digital platforms can be used to educate, inspire, connect communities, and promote peaceful engagement.

What made the day especially encouraging was the enthusiasm and creativity of the participants. The conversations went far beyond content creation and touched on truth, responsibility, leadership, and the power of young people to influence positive change.

We thank NCCK, The Coffee Ministry, and all the participants for creating a vibrant learning environment and for their commitment to building stronger and more peaceful communities.

This Saturday, we gather to witness something powerful.

Through Our Eyes — a youth-made documentary by Slum Film Festival — will be screened alongside a photo exhibition featuring work by young photographers from Kibera, developed through the Spark Peace Project in collaboration with The Coffee Ministry CFK Africa What's Good Media

Through their own lenses and their own words, these young storytellers share real reflections on peace, identity, belonging, and everyday life in their communities.

This is more than a screening or exhibition — it’s a moment to listen, to see, and to connect.

Something shifted last week.

We walked into Rebirth of a Queen thinking we were coming to run a training.

We left having witnessed growth.

In just 3 days, participants moved from:
📸 learning how to set up a camera
→ to
💡 understanding how to price their work
→ to
🎬 creating and presenting real ideas

But beyond the skills, something deeper happened.

Confidence grew.
Voices opened up.
Possibilities expanded.

One participant said:
“I wasn’t a fan of cameras… but now I want to learn more.”

And that’s what this is about.

Creating space.
Opening doors.
And reminding young people that their stories — and their work — matter.

This is just the beginning.
