All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”

This weekend, our trainees were invited for a friendly match with a local village team. To us, it was more than just football. It was a powerful sign that our presence in the community is being seen and felt.

Language was no longer a barrier. Our youth and the village youth came together, united by something they both love. What a beautiful way to break barriers and build connections.

The ladies showed up in full support, accompanying the team to the field a true reflection of teamwork, unity, and shared spirit.
I loved the energy, the attitude, and the sense of belonging throughout the entire experience.

And this is just the beginning…
The village team will soon visit us for a return match at our centre. What a meaningful way to build relationships, create outreach opportunities, and share the story of what Twajali is doing.

Who knows? Through these matches, we may even reach some of Maasai young men deeply rooted in pastoralism and open doors to new possibilities.

Sometimes, impact begins with something as simple as a game. ⚽

Batch 11 Soup Phase Begins 🍲
Batch 10 is now out on their three-month attachment, and we’ve officially welcomed back Batch 11 for the intensive Soup Phase 🍲

During our first review session, the room told a story—some faces filled with doubt, others confused by the intensity ahead, and a few ready to take it head-on. Different emotions, different starting points… but one shared journey.

Over the next 7 weeks, they will go through technical training and real-life hotel challenges, all leading up to planning and executing a live event.

We are holding space for growth, transformation, and new discoveries—and we can’t wait to see who they become through this process.

🌿 Batch 10 Completion – A Journey Worth Celebrating 🌿

We are delighted to celebrate the successful completion of Batch 10 trainees at Twajali Empowerment Network.

This journey began on 21st September 2025 with 17 trainees and has come to a close on 26th March 2026, with 15 trainees successfully completing the course. They now move on to the next phase of their journey—their three-month attachment in various hotels.

The final day was filled with powerful reflection. Each trainee shared their best and most challenging moments, creating a space of honesty, growth, and connection. In a touching exchange, both trainees and trainers received personal notes highlighting their strengths and areas for improvement. It was a warm and emotional moment, marked by genuine smiles and renewed energy.

The highlight of the day was the tree-tagging ceremony—each trainee tagged a tree with their name, the planting date, and their age. This stands as a lasting symbol of their journey and the footprints they leave behind at Twajali.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the 8 hotel partners who have welcomed our trainees for their attachment phase.
We also thank all our stakeholders whose continued support made this journey a success.

To Batch 10—your journey continues. Keep growing. 🌱

🌱 Growing Our Own Future 🌍

One of our biggest challenges at Twajali has been access to reliable vegetables. Often, we’ve had to source them from the city—almost 80 km away.

But we chose to turn this challenge into a solution. 💡
🌿 We’ve planted 250+ trees (100+ fruit trees!)
🥬 Our kitchen garden is now thriving with the rains
🎃 Growing pumpkins & sweet potatoes for both leaves and food
🌽 Expanding into maize & beans farming
🐔 Reared 30+ chicks in just one month with good eggs supply

This is more than farming—it’s a learning journey for our trainees.

👉 Farming is not just for farmers, it’s for everyone who eats.

✨ Nature is already responding—and rewarding the effort.

Preparing for the Next Step – The Dessert 🍰✨

With only a few days left before Batch 10 heads out for their attachment, this week on work readiness focused on interview preparation 🎯

To make it practical, we conducted mock interviews, where trainers engaged trainees based on their areas of interest 👥
The goal wasn’t just technical knowledge—but building confidence, composure, and self-expression 💬🌟

During the review sessions, we unpacked common interview questions and shared simple, powerful tips on how to approach them

And of course, the week wouldn’t be complete without some sumptuous learning in the kitchen—as trainees explored the preparation of offals and tripe 🍲🔥

We are now in the final stretch…
Batch 10 is almost ready to be released to the industry
Batch 11 is already at the door—ready to begin their journey (their “soup” stage) 🥣✨

Thank You to Our Partner Hotels 🙏🤝

As we welcome our trainees back to the centre for the final lap of their training, we sincerely appreciate our partner hotels that provided one month of on-job training opportunities for them.

Your support allowed our trainees to step into real working environments, practice their skills, and gain confidence in the hospitality industry.

A special thanks to Garden, Resort, Garden, Hotel, Hotel, Cottages, Resort, Cottages, and Place for opening your doors and mentoring our trainees.

Because of partners like you, young people are able to transform classroom learning into real experience and move one step closer to meaningful livelihoods.

As we continue to grow, we welcome more hospitality partners willing to offer attachment or employment opportunities to our trainees.

Completion of the Appetizer Phase for Batch 11

February 27 marked the completion of the Appetizer Camp — 28 trainees and 21 days of intense beginnings. 🎓

These days were filled with practical experiences, from nature walks 🌿, first aid training ⛑️, and intensive life skills activities and introduction to hospitality designed to build awareness, confidence, and self-discovery. The Appetizer phase is about laying a strong foundation for the journey ahead.

During this time, we intentionally spent time understanding the trainees backgrounds, their personal journeys, and their future aspirations. Each batch comes with its own story, and every journey unfolds differently.

As is our tradition, we closed the phase with a tree planting activity 🌳, where we planted 60 fruit trees as a symbol of growth and sustainability. We later shared a dinner together and gathered around our traditional bonfire 🔥 to mark the end of this phase.

Batch 11 is now on a short break and will return in April, refreshed and ready to continue with the next stages of their training journey.

Meanwhile, we warmly welcome back Batch 10 from their on-job training.

Batch 11 has officially begun.

As Batch 10 stepped out for their one-month apprenticeship, we opened our doors to a new group of trainees. On 6th February, 28 young people joined us and officially began their journey through our training model — The Twajali 6-Course Menu, starting with the first phase: The Appetizer. This will 21 days of intensive life-skills training and an introduction to hospitality.

The week is already filled with fun activities, self-evaluation, reflection, and educational drama. A new journey of transformation has just begun… now we let the process work on them. 🌱

The Table Keeps Turning 🍽️✨

This week at Twajali our practicals doubled as a farewell dinner.
The trainees prepared an extensive buffet of pasta, potato, beef and poultry dishes as we wished them well for their one-month On-Job Training. The kitchen was full of sweat — not just from the heat, but from the pressure of getting everything ready on time. True learning by doing. 👩🏽‍🍳👨🏽‍🍳

As we release them to the field for their “Dinner in the Bush,” we now open our doors to Batch 11 who begin their Appetizer Course.

One group steps out to experience the world, another steps in to begin the journey — and the Twajali kitchen keeps cooking. 🌱🔥
