Samaritan International Kenya

Samaritan International Kenya Elevating Communities & empowering lives through Godly Relationships When we enter a community, our first step is to understand their unique requirements.

International Samaritan Kenya operates as a subsidiary of International Samaritan, a global nonprofit with a mission to enhance living conditions in garbage dump communities. Our efforts are concentrated within the Dandora dumpsite, where we engage with families who make their livelihoods there. Our initiatives include providing scholarships to underprivileged students and facilitating comprehensi

ve programs for personal and professional growth. Our approach is rooted in community-based support and follows a targeted holistic methodology. Subsequently, we introduce tailored programs that directly address these needs. These initiatives are implemented either through International Samaritan itself or in collaboration with other nonprofit organizations and government agencies.

💙 In the quest to promote positive mental health, we all need a listening ear. We need families and safe spaces we can lean on during difficult moments.

🏡 At Samaritan International Kenya, we provide platforms where parents and children can openly talk, share their struggles, and build mutual understanding.

🤝 The impact is life-changing when a child feels heard, understood, and assured that their parent will truly listen to them.

🌱 Healthy conversations build trust. Trust strengthens families. Strong families nurture positive mental health.

Together, let us create homes filled with empathy, understanding, and support.

🧠💚 Mental health calls for dynamic interventions and strategies that continuously promote healthy living and emotional well-being among people. 🌍✨

💃🕺 Dancing, as taught by Grace from Kiteezi Samaritan in Uganda during her visit here in Kenya, has become a powerful tool in overcoming mental health challenges. It serves as a great stress buster 😌🎶 and creates joy, confidence, and social connection among children and young people. 👧🏽👦🏽❤.

🏫 Children in both Primary and Secondary schools were exposed to dancing as a strategy for overcoming stress, depression, and other related mental health challenges. 🌈✨ Through dance, learners gained emotional strength 💪🏽, happiness 😊, teamwork 🤝, and a more positive outlook on life 🌟.

🎵💚 Let us continue promoting creative arts, movement, and community activities as part of mental wellness programs for healthier and happier communities. 🌍❤️

🎗Trying to balance academics, social life, financial challenges, leadership and personal struggels becomes emotionally draining. This brings about anxiety, low motivation, sleepless nights and sometimes, isolation.

🫂At sometime sharing personal struggles was a sign of weakness. Today, I understand that speaking openly about mental health creates a room for healing, understanding and support. Sometimes we only need space to be heard, not judged.

🎗As part of our Mental Health Awareness Month activities, our team recently engaged parents within the program in powerful conversations around mental health and wellness.

💓Central to the discussion were the factors triggering mental health challenges and their impact on families, communities, and society at large.

🤹Growing up in Dandora, raising children in Dandora, and working in Dandora all shape the environment we live in. And environment greatly influences how we think, respond, and define ourselves. In many ways, it directly affects mental well-being.

🫂Over the past few months, we have witnessed encouraging transformation through our health and wellness initiatives alongside economic empowerment programs. We have seen individuals who were on the verge of losing hope regain strength, young people struggling with drugs begin recovery journeys, and families once affected by neglect reclaim dignity and responsibility.

💥These programs are building resilience, restoring hope, and strengthening mental wellness within the community.

📍We celebrate all the parents in the program for their openness to learn, grow, and embrace change.

🎗This is our Mental Wellness Awareness Month.

🧘‍♀️Mental health is real—and it’s a conversation we must all take seriously. It goes beyond checking on someone; it calls for intentional support from families, schools, and communities.

🤹At Samaritan International Kenya, we are creating safe spaces through peer groups for scholars and savings groups for parents—platforms where voices are heard and support systems are strengthened.

🫂Our experience shows that many mental health triggers among young people stem from home, school, and community environments. Homes filled with conflict often contribute to deeper struggles, while nurturing environments promote well-being.

💥This month, we explore the role each of us plays:
• 📍Families in shaping emotional stability
• 📍Schools in creating supportive learning spaces
• 📍Students in building peer support systems

Join us as we share real stories and practical conversations on mental health.

🫂We create safe spaces where relationships thrive, conversations are honest, and every voice matters. Together, we carry one another’s burdens and grow stronger as a community.

👨‍💼🧑‍💼Our tertiary scholars are rising as leaders—driving conversations on purpose, career growth, and the impact of family in shaping their future. Through this, they are building confidence and lifelong support networks.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Breaking cycles of poverty starts at home.

📌Families shape the values, character, and future of children. When parents are present, intentional, and grounded in strong values, children are more likely to thrive.

👫This month, as we celebrate International Families Day, we are focusing on building godly families—homes filled with love, harmony, and faith.

Let’s raise a generation rooted in strong values and God-centered relationships.
