Global Solutions and Environment Protection (GSEP) uses diplomatic channels and strategies to raises public awareness campaigns, conduct research and partnership with international networks to educate the public about Climate and Environment Protection. My role involves using international relations and diplomacy skills to develop and create interventions at local, regional to global levels in order to monitor and raise concerns regarding the diverse issues pertaining to climate change. Climate change diplomacy is one of the effective opportunities to assess the impacts of climate change, to create awareness among the people and draw the governments attention to focus on climate actions firmly. This has been able to bring together creative minds focused and determined to work towards assessing and combating issues of climate change, but also helps local communities, government, policy makers to mobilize the various resources for initiating climate actions, create awareness and initiate climate activism and advocacy.

You start dying slowly ;

if you do not travel,
if you do not read,
If you do not listen to the sounds of life,
If you do not appreciate yourself.

You start dying slowly :
When you kill your self-esteem,
When you do not let others help you.

You start dying slowly ;
If you become a slave of your habits,
Walking everyday on the same paths…
If you do not change your routine,
If you do not wear different colours
Or you do not speak to those you don’t know.

You start dying slowly :
If you avoid to feel passion
And their turbulent emotions;
Those which make your eyes glisten
And your heart beat fast.

You start dying slowly :
If you do not risk what is safe for the uncertain
If you do not go after a dream
If you do not allow yourself
At least once in your lifetime
To run away from sensible advice

Don't let yourself die slowly
Do not forget to be happy!

CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION MEASURES

Global Solutions and Environment Protection (GSEP) is using rainwater harvesting as climate change adaptation method and measure to address the overstretched water scarcity that has affected millions of homes in Kenya. This project is to be implemented in rural and urban homesteads. In order to make this project a success, the organization is creating awareness on the importance of using cement to concrete spaces in homes in order to reduce the volumes of water that runoff and sips into the ground to increase the water table underground, which feed the aquifers and most water sources.

Yes, some homesteads in Kenya are practicing rainwater harvesting but many still needs to be sensitized to make conscious efforts to harvest rainwater. If more and more homesteads can adapt to harvesting rainwater, Kenya is going to store volumes of water to cater for billions of people for its population.

Through our survey, we have noted that many people have taken rainwater harvesting for granted and they are not putting in any effort to build water storage tanks in their homes to stock water. It is important to know that apart from the fact that rainwater is a useful source for domestic and industrial uses, harvesting and storing the water in mass levels can help reduce the volume of flooding, which has become a big issue for many countries.

Global Solutions and Environment Protection is reaching out to the United Nations Environment Programme, UNESCO and other like-minded organizations that can come on board to partner together in designing an app that should aid households and institutions gather data to be able to measure and set up rainwater harvesting storage's or systems that collect and store rainfalls. - Compiled by the PRESIDENT - GLOBAL SOLUTIONS AND ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION.
