POWERFUL MOMENT AT the Kenya Youth in Agrifood Systems Summit

Our panel led by Doris Muningi from GROOTS Kenya just reminded us why youth MUST work together!

"When young people come together and work in groups, there will be amazing outcomes." - Doris Muningi

GROOTS Kenya is on stage showcasing how they organize and empower grassroots women , turning small savings groups into big farming businesses, helping women access land, seeds, and markets, and proving that agriculture starts with the women at the grassroots.

And the stories! 🔥

We have pastoralists all the way from *Laikipia* who made the bold move from purely livestock keeping to crop farming to adapt to climate change , now growing food and feeding their communities , some making beef tallow and moreee . Their journey into agriculture is pure resilience!

This is what the Kenya Youth in Agrifood System Summit 2026 is about , real stories, real people, real solutions from the ground up.

From grassroots women to pastoralist youth the future of food is youth-led, group-powered, and rooted in our communities!

To kick us off , Day 2 at the Kenya Youth in Agrifood Systems Summit

LIVE DEBATE

*TOPIC: CAN AGROECOLOGY FEED KENYA?

Agroecology is farming that works WITH nature, never against it. It looks at the food system as a whole.

Youth are saying:

Team YES says:* Our soils are acidic, fertilizer is 7k, climate is changing. Compost fixes soil, saves money, and creates youth jobs. Chemical alone has kept us at 7 bags/acre for 20 years. That is feeding Kenya.

Team NO says:* We are 57 Million people. We need bulk food NOW. Agroecology is slow, needs a lot of manure we don't have, and is too much labour for youth.

*What do YOU think?*

We are at the summit right now debating this. Drop your thoughts in the comments

tell us what you see in YOUR shamba.
