As we reach the halfway point of the year, we are grateful for the journey we've shared as Girls in Aviation Africa. ✈️

From inspiring mentorship sessions and insightful online meetings to meaningful conversations, sisterhood, and memorable dinners, every experience has contributed to my personal and professional growth.

Through the highs, the challenges, and everything in between, this community has been a constant reminder of the power of learning, connection, and supporting one another.

Looking forward to all that's still ahead.

Walking back into your former school as a professional is a powerful reminder of how far you've come.

At the recent career day at Machakos Girls High School, Girls in Aviation Africa members returned to inspire students through authentic conversations about careers, resilience, and purpose.

Friddah Friddah Mutheu shared her journey into aviation, from discovering a love for Physics and Mathematics in high school to pursuing Aviation Management at university.

Guided by mentors along the way, she found her path into Air Traffic Control and is currently advancing her expertise through a master's degree.

Her story highlighted the importance of mentorship and remaining open to opportunities.

In the breakout sessions, Ruth Mutua Ruth spoke about Software Engineering and Cloud Computing.

Returning to her alma mater, where her name still appears on the honours board, she shared how her dream of becoming a pilot led her to discover a second passion in technology.

Today, she is building a career in Software Engineering and Cloud Computing while encouraging students to explore the many opportunities within STEM.

The day was filled with laughter, meaningful conversations, and incredibly engaged students whose curiosity made every session worthwhile.

Our hearts are so full. 🤍

Last night, we gathered for our June Online Check-In and spent time reflecting on our goals, consistency, and progress as we reached the halfway mark of the year.

There is something so special about being in a space with women who are cheering each other on, sharing honestly, celebrating wins (big and small), and reminding one another that growth isn't always loud. 🌷

We left feeling encouraged, refreshed, and excited for what's ahead. Most importantly, we were reminded that every step forward counts and that we don't have to do the journey alone. 💕

The Girls in Aviation Africa Foundation proudly celebrates its Founder and President, Maseka Kithinji, on being recognized as the Most Outstanding Woman in Aviation 2026 at the Women in Business Excellence Awards under the Kenya Excellence Brands Awards.

This prestigious recognition is a testament to years of dedicated service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to advancing opportunities for girls and women in aviation across Africa.

Maseka extends her gratitude to God for this honour, for entrusting her with the vision to found Girls in Aviation Africa Foundation, and for the privilege of serving as its President for the past five years. She also thanks the entire GIAA network whose support, passion, and belief in the mission continue to drive meaningful impact across the continent.

As the Foundation looks to the future, this award serves not as a destination, but as a reminder of the responsibility to continue building a stronger, more inclusive aviation industry for every African female aviator yet to come. Maseka remains committed to playing her part in shaping history and creating a lasting legacy for generations of women in aviation.

This recognition marks an important milestone, but the work continues. It belongs not only to one woman, but to every mentor, supporter, volunteer, partner, and young girl who dares to dream of a place in the skies. Together, we are proving that African women belong in every cockpit, control tower, hangar, boardroom, and leadership table across the aviation industry.

The future of African aviation is female, and we're just getting started.
