Tanir International is dedicated to advancing Financial Inclusion for MSMEs in Africa operating at the nexus of GESI (Gender Equality & Social Inclusion) and Climate for Sustainable Economic Development. Financial exclusion remains greatest among traditionally underserved groups, including the poor, women, smallholder farmers, and micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Africa. This
absence of inclusive financial systems means the underserved groups are left to rely on products and services that are more expensive, lower quality, less convenient and even predatory. This exclusion therefore hampers the ability to earn, have protection in times of crisis, and to build financial health and resilience of MSMEs who are the backbone of Africa's economy providing majority of the formal and informal jobs. Financial inclusion means that individuals and businesses have access to useful and affordable financial products and services that meet their needs – transactions, payments, savings, credit and insurance – delivered in a responsible and sustainable way(World Bank,2016). It has been identified as an enabler for 7 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Tanir International is sector agnostic and seeks to advance financial inclusion at the nexus of GESI-Gender Equality & Social Inclusion & Climate, partner with industry experts to offer bespoke financial inclusion trainings as well as facilitate knowledge exchanges through learning and capacity building programs. Consequently, contributing positively to making the case for financial inclusion with a gender and climate focus by reaching out to policy makers and advocates of financial inclusion.
