Mental health awareness month is now over and we usher in a new month. Even then, let's be self aware, asses your mental wellness often. With so many stressors we face today the body and the mind can give in. Triggers like loss of jobs, retirement, divorce and separation, losing a loved one, pressure at work, pressure at school, pressure from friends and family to achieve some milestones and so on can lead a person to a breaking point. When you recognise symptoms related to stress, kindly seek help. In my country, there are places and organisations that offer free proffesional counseling to those who may need it. For example all Huduma Centres countrywide have a desk offering this service, all government departments have a wellness and counseling office which one can explore, all public hospitals have a counselling department that offer this service to the public and most of the time it is free of charge, in the same hospital setups there are also Youth Friendly sections which are also complete including proffesional counsellor. We also have various non governmental organizations offering these services to the communities they serve so find out which one is near you. Some churches like CITAM are also deliberate on this docket and they do a great job. There are also several doctors available on call, WhatsApp and other virtual formats who can also be of help if one does not want to visit a therapist physically. As much we would need more of this service to cover the large population, at least we can take advantage of the already existing platforms can capture any service provider they are aware of in the comment section.Lets have each others back.
