Who controls our health data matters.
During a systems migration workshop last week, the Director of ICT at the Ministry of Health, Peter Kithuku, emphasized the risks of health systems being controlled outside the country, especially when system failures disrupt services and decision-making.
That’s why the Ministry of Health is transitioning key digital health platforms to the Digital Health Agency (DHA) under the Digital Health Act, 2023, while building local capacity to manage, secure, and sustain these systems.
The training supports the migration of platforms such as DHIS2, eCHIS, and Kenya EMR, strengthening cybersecurity, data governance, and integration from the community to the national level. Systems are locally managed and responsive to community needs.
