During the 19th century Africa especially Kenya has been food secure even during the drought season, since it was the obligation of the youth to take part in Agricultural and farming activities,, but today in this new youth generation no one is going to the farm due new methods of lifestyle of business, e-commerce and other causes that doesn't not involve production. 76% of our food production is carried out by adults and elderly. Demographicly the youth in Kenya the are more than twice than the aged which produces food that feeds our nation.
The youth are only given chances at the police and army as mandatory requirements. If programmes are put in place for youth participation in agriculture through efforts of consultation, training, support and education
chances should be given to youth on agricultural produce tenders for government institutions and facilities then the youth will take the opportunity to take part in Dryland Agriculture. Our youth remain the backbone of our economy and because of lacking ability to do agriculture due lack of support.
Until The youth's and poor man's access to support upon credit, education, energy, water and food is solved then Kenya shall be food secure. The aged and adults have shown low ability to make the country food secure and thereby hunger, malnutrition and death of children, elderly and livestock. Kenya is at deficit of 10 million bags of maize as a decline. If all the 12.7 million youth's on average produce just a signal bag then we can feed ours. Our youth should motivated, trained and supported to do agriculture with a support and given supply tenders by government.
Our learning instructions should practice agriculture as a extra curriculum activity to produce food, community groups, churches, mosques and women groups should be encouraged to carry Dryland Agriculture as a communal activity and given price contacts. If we don't involve the youth now in agriculture rather than arts and manufacturing then no enough food.
