Africa Environmental Film Festival - AEFF

09/08/2026

A NEW CHAPTER FOR AEFF 🌍🎬
It’s been a little quiet here — but behind the scenes, the Africa Environmental Film Festival has been moving forward.

Following our soft launch in Nairobi earlier this year, we’ve been building partnerships, growing our network, connecting with filmmakers and environmental organizations, and preparing for the next major chapter of AEFF.
Today, we’re excited to introduce our new AEFF identity and logo — representing a festival built around Africa, environmental storytelling, science, creativity, and connection.

And most importantly:
🎬 Submissions for AEFF 2027 are now open.
We’re looking for powerful films that explore our relationship with the environment, nature, communities, wildlife, sustainability, science, and the changing world around us — from Africa and across the globe.

AEFF 2027 Submission Timeline
📅 Regular Deadline — September 1, 2026
📅 Late Deadline — November 15, 2026
📅 Extended Deadline — February 1, 2027
📅 Notification Date — March 1, 2027
🎥 Festival Dates — TBD

AEFF is more than a place to screen films.
Our vision is to create a platform where African filmmakers, scientists, communities, young storytellers, and international partners can meet, exchange ideas, develop new work, and bring important environmental stories to wider audiences.

Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing much more about AEFF 2027 — filmmakers, workshops, partnerships, special screenings, opportunities, and the people helping us build this platform.
A new look.
A growing community.
A bigger journey ahead.
Welcome to the next chapter of the Africa Environmental Film Festival.
Filmmakers: submit your film before the Regular Deadline on September 1.
