Do you know a young Kenyan student stepping into Grade 10 in 2026, who is curious about nature, passionate about conservation, and ready to lead?
Well, this is their moment.
The Young Conservation Heroes Scholarship offers full senior secondary school funding tuition, books, uniforms, and travel, while also shaping tomorrowβs conservation leaders through structured holiday mentorship and real-world learning.
This is more than a scholarship, it is a launchpad: that will enable recipients to receive seed funding to design and implement conservation micro-projects in their own communities. This way, their ideas become action and their passion becomes impact.
So what does the applicant need to apply?
Applicants must:
β’ Be former Grade 9 learners from one of the 137 primary schools supported by the Young Conservation Heroes Project in Tana River, Kwale, Kilifi, Kitui, Makueni, Taita Taveta, or Kajiado counties β Hereβs the full list to the supported schools - https://bit.ly/3Xqnj9v
β’ Have attained Meeting Expectations β ME1 (AL 6): 58β74% in the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (Grade 9 exams).
β’ Must demonstrate interest and active participation in conservation activities, such as involvement in 4Ks, environmental, or wildlife clubs.
β’ Not be currently receiving assistance from other scholarships
β’ Show commitment to giving back and championing environmental stewardship
This initiative supported by Bob and Emmy King, and delivered by African Wildlife Foundation and Wildlife Clubs of Kenya is intentionally designed to build a conservation movement led by young Africans.
By empowering learners early, we are strengthening the pipeline of future scientists, policymakers, educators, and community champions who will safeguard Kenyaβs natural heritage.
The application window runs from 1 December 2025 at 8:00 AM EAT to 31 January 2026 at 5:00 PM EAT.
