☦️🕯️THE JOY OF GIVING 🕯️☦️

Jesus Christ once said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Some may raise their eyebrows at such a saying, thinking that they would much rather receive than give. Yet, one of the great secrets to a happy, meaningful life is the joy that comes through giving and serving others. How many of us feel great when we have given a special gift to someone else? How many of us have tasted the utter joy when we do something for another person expecting nothing in return?

A full, rich and authentic life is all about realizing how connected we are to one another and how we can help one another. We all are a part of one global family. Our purpose in life is to love our Creator and to love all His Creation – to love one another. When we truly and deeply love one another, serve one another, and give to one another, we discover the purpose and meaning of life which will bring an inner peace and happiness that makes life all the more beautiful.

The lenten fast is just around the corner. I invite all Christians outside of Orthodoxy to draw closer to Christ and try it with me 🫶🏻

It's the way our Christian ancestors did it (and no, it's nothing like the Catholics). Article on how fasting like a Christian is attached. Copy & Pasted the last paragraph of the article:

Saint Paul lists patience virtue as one of the “fruits of the Spirit” (Gal 5.22). we can’t attain it with ourselves. It is God’s grace. And it is not something given as it is. “It must be renewed daily through fasting, prayer and communion with God in the Church. It is found when one trains oneself to remember God, to abide in Christ and to see all things in the light of the Kingdom of God.”

Does it mean to live without any things , comfort, etc? No, but spiritual things should be in the first place. It is important to understand and be ready that we may lose everything any moment . We should develop in ourselves virtues of moderation and self-restraint, especially in nowadays consumer culture which makes us confuse personal happiness with purchasing material possessions and consumption

We are saved only in the Church, because only in Christ is salvation, as He Himself said: "I am the door, no one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6). ... as in the apostolic reading we hear that the Body of Christ is the Church. This is how we can come to the Heavenly Father through Christ - by becoming part of His Body.
