We identified gaps. We designed solutions. We made commitments.

Today, PSAMH and African Renaissance Trust (ART) brought together a room of researchers, policymakers and private sector leaders - all united around one urgent challenge - the menstrual waste management gap. We mapped existing data, identified critical gaps across disposal mechanisms, economic costs, infrastructural designs and consumer access, crafting a methodology to start filling them.

We leave today with commitments and insights for a Technical Working Group (TWG) that has been formed. The data work starts now. Watch this space.

“However long the night, the dawn will break.” — African Proverb

This week at the 2026 AMCOW Statutory Meeting for Southern Africa and consultations on the First Implementation Plan (2026–2033) of the Africa Water Vision 2063, one message is clear: Africa’s next chapter depends on turning commitments into implementation.

With over 660 million Africans still lacking safely managed WASH services, inclusion can no longer remain a policy aspiration—it must become a delivery reality.

In The Toolkit Helping African Countries Turn Inclusion Commitments Into Real Services for Women and Youth, we highlight how practical tools are supporting countries to move from commitment → implementation → measurable impact for women and young people across the continent.

Today marks an important day of awareness as we reflect on the persistent gender pay gap that continues to affect women across the globe. Did you know that, on average, women earn just 82 cents for every dollar earned by men? This disparity is even more pronounced for women of color, highlighting the intersectionality of this issue.

Equal Pay Day symbolizes how far into the year women must work to earn what men made in the previous year. It’s a reminder that despite our strides, there’s still so much work to be done to achieve true pay equity.

Let’s take a moment to celebrate the incredible achievements of women in every field, from business leaders and scientists to artists and activists. Their contributions are invaluable, and they deserve to be recognized and compensated fairly.

💪🏽 What can we do?

Please keep in mind that you need to understand the statistics and share them with your network.
Advocate for Change: Support policies that promote pay transparency and equitable pay practices.
Empower Women: Mentor and uplift the women in your life—help them negotiate salaries and advocate for their worth.
Speak Up: If you notice pay discrepancies in your workplace, address them. Change starts with us.
