🏅🏅🏅🏅Farewell Message from the Kalenjin Nation to Kipchoge Keino🏅🏅🏅🏅

To our son, our champion, and our eternal torchbearer; Kipchoge Keino:

Today, as you take your final bow from the track that echoed your footsteps and the world that cheered your name, the Kalenjin Nation stands in deep reflection and pride.

From the valleys of Nandi to the hills of Elgeyo, from the winds of Kerio to the plains of Uasin Gishu, from the forests of a lembus to the plains of Tugen and Pokots, to the Tea Plantations of Kipsigis , your name has been our song, the rhythm that reminded us that greatness can spring from humble beginnings.

When others ran for victory, you ran for honor.

When others sought medals, you sought meaning.

You carried not only our flag but our spirit, the endurance, discipline, and quiet strength of our people.

You proved that a son of Africa can inspire the world through humility, courage, and service. Your legacy is not written in gold medals alone, but in the lives you uplifted, the schools you built, the athletes you mentored, and the dignity you carried through every stride.

As you retire from the arena, remember, you do not step away from greatness; you step into a new chapter of leadership and wisdom. You will forever remain“Kirgit Mararma”, ”Kiruk Kwaryan”,”Mutai Kiruk ak Uindamet”, the crown of the champion and the pride of our people.

The Kalenjin Nation bows its head in gratitude.

The children who will run tomorrow will whisper your name with reverence forever- talk to them more.

May your path ahead be filled with peace, health, and joy, for your race, dear elder, is now run in the hearts of millions.

With honor,

HRH Sialo KIPLAGAT Kimiring

Condolences for Mzee Major Koitaba

We extend our deepest condolences as we remember and honor the life of Mzee Major Koitaba. Mzee Major Koitaba was not only a distinguished Kenyan 🇰🇪 military major but also a dedicated servant at the National Cereals and Produce Board, and a devoted secretary to the Lembus Council of Elders. His life was a testament to service, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to his community and country.

Throughout his military career, Mzee Major Koitaba exemplified courage and discipline, earning respect and admiration from his peers and superiors. His transition from the military to the National Cereals and Produce Board was marked by the same dedication and integrity, contributing significantly to the nation's agricultural sector.

His role within the Lembus Council of Elders showcased his profound connection to his roots and his unwavering dedication to his people. As secretary, Mzee Major Koitaba worked tirelessly to preserve and promote the cultural heritage and well-being of the Lembus community. His wisdom and leadership were instrumental in guiding the council through numerous challenges.

I had the honor of working closely with Mzee Major Koitaba, particularly during a critical time when Hon. Lessonet sought to forcefully address issues affecting our community through court and that did not go well with the entire Lembus Community of Kalenjin Nation . I vividly remember a day we spent nine hours together, discussing, strategizing, and learning. Those hours were invaluable, as I absorbed immense wisdom from Mzee Major Koitaba's vast experiences and insightful perspectives.

Mzee Major Koitaba was more than a leader; he was a mentor, a guide, and a beacon of wisdom. His contributions to the Lembus community and the nation at large will be remembered and cherished for generations to come. His legacy of service, dedication, and integrity will continue to inspire us all.

As we bid farewell to this great man, we celebrate a life well-lived and a legacy that will endure. Mzee Major Koitaba's spirit will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us as we strive to uphold the values he stood for.

Rest in peace, Mzee Major Koitaba. You will be deeply missed, but your legacy will live on.
