🫥 There’s a difference between being loving and being self-erasing where you disappear in the process. For a lot of adoptees, those two got blended or blurred early on.

🫥 When connection felt uncertain, of course a part of you learned how to protect it. Loyal. Effective. Maybe a little overcommitted.

🫥 The thing is, that part or strategy doesn’t automatically realize when the environment has changed.

🫥 So it still shows up, a bit cautious, saying, “maybe don’t risk it,” even when being known is actually possible.

🫥 The work is noticing and getting curious about that voice, building some trust with it, and slowly choosing when to follow it and when when not to.

🧶 Before any placement happens, something complex has already taking shape within the adoptee.

🧶 Layers of origin, connection, loss, and meaning exist simultaneously, even when unseen.

🧶 These threads don’t wait for a new family - they travel with the child into it.

🧶 What may look like a beginning is often a continuation of relationships already held inside.

🧶 Honoring this reality invites deeper empathy, curiosity, and care.

☕️ Parenting through adoption can feel isolating at times, especially when it feels like the people around you don’t fully understand the layers involved.

☕️ You might find yourself holding questions, emotions, or experiences that don’t always have a place to land.

☕️ Our adoptive parent meet-ups are meant to be a space where you don’t have to explain everything to be understood. A space for honest conversation, shared experience, and community.

☕️ Join us this Saturday, April 4, from 10:00–11:30am at Tin Roof Café in Karen, opposite The Hub. No RSVP needed. Hope to see you there!

⚖️ We are proud to be guided by leaders who are actively shaping more just and equitable systems.

⚖️ Meet Waizeh, who brings a grounded, community-centered approach to her work in the legal space.

⚖️ Her commitment reflects a deep belief that everyone deserves informed support and fair representation.

⚖️ She shows up where it matters most—walking alongside individuals often left without access or advocacy.

⚖️ Her perspective strengthens and sharpens the work we’re building together.

⚖️ Help us welcome Waizeh in the comments and stay connected as we introduce more of the people behind this work.

🥾 Many adoptees grow up highly attuned to the emotional worlds of others.

🥾 While “walking in another’s shoes” can build deep empathy, it can also make it easy to lose connection with our own inner experience.

🥾 Compassion offers another path - one where we can care deeply about others without abandoning ourselves in the process.

🥾 Adoptee wellbeing often includes learning how to stay connected and differentiated.

🥾 Fellow adoptees: What has helped you stay grounded in yourself while navigating relationships?

🫆 Navigating identity as an adoptee can be complex, especially when cultural roots and family values pull in different directions.

🫆 Many adoptees experience tension between personal autonomy and connection to others, even from an early age.

🫆 These dynamics can show up in relationships, choices, and even in how someone experiences belonging.

🫆 Understanding how both biological and social histories contribute to a person’s sense of self can help both adoptees and parents foster stronger relationships and emotional well-being.

🫆 I’m curious - how do you see these patterns showing up in your own life or in the lives of those you know?
