Sometimes, all they need is something so simple, a warm meal, a genuine hug, and a few moments of someone truly listening.

We often think it takes big things to make a difference, but for these children, our presence is what they need the most. Sitting with them, hearing their stories, laughing with them, it reminds them that they are seen.

Every child deserves that kind of love.
To feel visible. To feel valued. To feel like they matter.

And maybe, if more of us showed up with open hearts, we would change more lives than we realize.

Yesterday, Thrive Child Foundation visited a girls’ rescue center in Kajiado County, Kenya and the stories we heard were not just painful, they were a wake-up call. Within every small young girl was a journey of silence, injustice, and survival. It reminded us that many young people are suffering in the dark simply because our communities don’t know or are unaware of human rights or being hold down by cultural beliefs and practices.

This is why human rights education should not longer be optional; it’s very urgent, for you, for me and for us. Our communities need to understand, protect, and stand up for every child. Because when one child is unheard, we all fail, but when we choose to educate and act, we begin to change lives.

Children in South Sudan have potential, they need a serene environment and institutions that nurture them.

Today, with heavy hearts, we condemn the brutal and inhumane killing of four innocent children in a Day Care in Uganda. A man, disguised as a parent, betrayed the very trust that is meant to protect children and instead ended their lives in the most cruel way.

On behalf of Thrive Child Foundation, we strongly denounce this act of violence. No child deserves such a fate. Children are meant to be protected, nurtured, and given the opportunity to live, dream, and grow, not to have their lives cut short by senseless cruelty.

This tragedy is a painful reminder that we must do more as communities, as leaders, and as a society to safeguard our children. We call for justice to be served and for stronger measures to ensure the safety and protection of every child.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims during this unimaginable time of grief.

Protect our children.

Statement by Thrive Child Foundation on the Killing of a 13-Year-Old Boy in Juba

The Thrive Child Foundation strongly condemns the heartbreaking and senseless killing of a 13-year-old boy, Ayok Ayok, in Juba. No child deserves to lose their life in such a cruel and unjust manner, especially for simply being a child and playing.

We are deeply disturbed by the reports alleging that the boy was shot by a security guard attached to a senior military official. If these reports are true, then this is not just a tragedy, it is a grave violation of children’s rights and a reflection of a system that has failed to protect its most vulnerable.

Children are not threats. Children are not targets. Children are lives to be protected, nurtured, and safeguarded at all costs.

This incident highlights a painful and urgent reality: far too many children in our communities live in fear instead of freedom. Spaces that should be safe for play and growth are turning into zones of danger. This must stop.

On behalf of Thrive Child Foundation, we call for:
•An immediate, independent, and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding this killing.
•Full accountability for all individuals involved, regardless of rank or position. No one should be above the law.
•Justice for Ayok Ayok and his family, who are now left to carry unimaginable pain.
