On 28 and 29th May, 2025, the National Council for Children's Services conducted public participation for Regulatory Impact Assessments of the draft Children Act regulations. The events were held at Kariokor Social Hall in Nairobi, and Mama Grace Social Hall in Kisumu, Tononoka Social Hall in Mombasa and Home Craft centre in Eldoret.

Today, a team from the National Council for Children's Services led by Director, Gilbert Biwott, paid a courtesy call to the County Commissioner, Taita Taveta County regarding preparations for the National Celebrations for the Day of the African Child that will be held on 16th June 2024.

The County Commissioner expressed her optimism towards the success of the day. She noted that the County was ready to host the nation. The event will be graced by Her Excellency, the First Lady, Rachel Ruto.

The Director thereafter presented a copy of the Children Act 2022. The Act is a robust legislation that was enacted in 2022 and is geared towards safeguarding the rights and welfare of the child.

The theme of this year's celebrations is, "Education for all children in Africa: the time is now".

Yesterday, Taita Taveta Governor, Hon. Andrew Mwadime hosted officials from the National Council for Children's Services, Ministry of Labour and Social Protection at his office in Mwatate today.

The meeting discussed the National Celebrations of the Day of the African Child on 16th June 2024 at Mwatate Primary School set to be precided over by Her Excellency, First Lady Rachel Ruto.

The Day of the African Child is an opportunity to celebrate the African child and create awareness on the challenges that children face in Kenya and Africa as a whole.
