A DAY OF IMPACT, ENGAGEMENT AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP
Yesterday, Okoa Boychild Initiative had the honor of attending the AGM at Nyolo Primary School in Bura Ward, Mwatate Sub-County. We were privileged to be in the presence of aspiring Mwatate MP Muiu Nguli Ngura , who generously donated science laboratory equipment to support quality education and nurture future innovators. He also awarded books to the best overall student, recognizing and encouraging academic excellence among learners.
We also joined the residents of Nyolo Sub-Location during their village baraza, where important community matters were discussed, further strengthening our connection with the people we serve.
Later in the afternoon, we engaged with the vibrant youth of Bura Ward at Bura Social Hall. The meeting was graced by the area Chief and the area OCS. The main agenda was to create awareness about the purpose of the Okoa Boychild Initiative, share our achievements so far, and outline our planned activities for the future.
The response from the community was truly overwhelming. The initiative was warmly embraced, and we received encouragement from all quarters to continue championing the welfare, empowerment, mentorship, and development of boys and men across our county.
We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who took part in yesterday's engagements. Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive, and empowered society.
"When communities come together, every child gets a better chance to succeed, and every young person finds hope for a brighter future."

June: Men's Mental Health Awareness Month

As we observe Men's Mental Health Awareness Month this June, Okoa Boychild Initiative calls upon families, communities, leaders, institutions, and all stakeholders to join hands in protecting and supporting the mental well-being of men and boys.
Many men silently carry the weight of financial pressures, family responsibilities, social expectations, and emotional struggles. Too often, they suffer in silence because society expects them to always be strong.
It is time to change the conversation.
Let us create safe spaces where men can speak openly, seek help without fear of judgment, and receive the support they deserve. A healthy man builds a healthy family, and a healthy family builds a stronger society.
Protect the man. Listen to him. Support him. Check on him.
Together, we can break the stigma surrounding men's mental health and remind every man that his life, feelings, and well-being matter.

20/05/2026

During the International Boychild Day 2026, the Okoa Boychild Initiative created a safe and powerful platform where boys and men openly shared some of the challenges affecting them in society.
The discussions touched on mental health, unemployment, drug and substance abuse, lack of mentorship, school dropouts, depression, family pressure, and the silent struggles many boys go through every day without support.
It was a moment of reflection, healing, and empowerment as voices of boys and men were finally heard and recognized.
We now call upon all stakeholders — parents, teachers, religious leaders, government institutions, NGOs, community leaders, media, and well-wishers — to come together and think collectively on the best solutions to save and empower the boychild.
A strong society begins with a guided, mentored, and supported boychild. When we uplift boys, we build responsible men, stronger families, and a better future for generations to come.
Together, let us break the silence, create opportunities, and restore hope to the boychild.
