We convened a multi-stakeholder meeting with advocates, chiefs, Children’s Officers, probation officers, legal counsellors, and representatives from the National Council for Persons with Disabilities to reflect on gaps within our justice and support systems.

The discussion highlighted key challenges including delays in case handling, weak coordination between institutions, limited awareness of reporting procedures among survivors, resource constraints, and instances where corruption or interference undermine justice processes. Stakeholders also noted the need for clearer referral pathways, stronger accountability, and more survivor-centred approaches, especially for children and persons with disabilities.

By bringing these voices together, the meeting created a platform for honest reflection and collective problem-solving. We for She remains committed to strengthening collaboration with all actors to close these gaps and promote fair, timely, and accessible justice for all.

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) perpetrators may be granted bond, but this is considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the level of harm they may pose if released. In our local court setting, justice is timely—judgement is delivered within 60 days.

Through our recent GBV sensitization meeting, we educated the community on what constitutes GBV, survivors’ rights, and the clear pathways for reporting and seeking justice. Awareness saves lives, and informed communities are the first line of prevention.
