Nurturing the Blessings of Our Community in Ziwa la Ng'ombe.
In the heart of Mombasa, within the Ziwa la Ng'ombe ward, a quiet but profound movement of compassion is taking place. Race Complete CBO has continued to stand as a steady beacon of hope for a demographic that is too often overlooked, yet holds the greatest wealth of wisdom: our beloved elderly. We do not view our seniors as a burden; rather, we recognize them as a profound blessing to our community. When we protect, cherish, and care for them properly, their presence brings a deep sense of grace, history, and stability to us all.
Our cornerstone initiative, the Feeding Elderly Program, remains a vital lifeline in Ziwa la Ng'ombe, providing a warm cup of porridge and slices of bread every Friday and Saturday. However, as the light of this program shines brighter, the reality of the need in our community becomes more apparent. We are currently encountering significant structural challenges driven by a beautiful yet overwhelming reality: the number of elderly individuals coming to the feeding program increases every single week.
This rapid growth is a testament to the safety, dignity, and love the elders find at Race Complete CBO, but it also places a heavy strain on our limited resources. To sustain this momentum and ensure that no grandmother or grandfather is turned away empty-handed, we urgently need to scale our operations. We are stepping out in faith to bridge the gap between hope and sustainability, but we cannot do it alone.
To ensure these "blessings of our community" live out their twilight years in comfort, health, and joy, we are calling upon well-wishers, partners, and stakeholders to join hands with us. We require immediate support to provide:
Expanded Food Supplies: Increased quantities of porridge flour, bread, maize flour, and cooking oil to feed the growing numbers every Friday and Saturday, as well as to sustain them at home.
Essential Comfort Items: Clothing, bedding, and bedsheets to protect them from the elements and ensure restful, dignified sleep.
Mental & Spiritual Nourishment: Dedicated volunteer speakers and counselors to engage with the elders weekly, speaking life, affirmation, and peace directly into their subconscious minds to heal the wounds of isolation.
The elderly of Ziwa la Ng'ombe have given their youth, their strength, and their love to build the foundation of our society. It is now our collective responsibility to ensure they are kept well among us. By supporting Race Complete CBO, you are not just funding a program—you are honoring our elders, preserving our community's blessings, and ensuring that hope remains sustainable for every senior citizen who knocks on our door.
