How about we act it instead of just talking about it?

Some conversations are difficult to have.
Talking about sexual violence, consent, teenage pregnancy, bullying, gender equality, and healthy relationships can sometimes feel uncomfortable. People may listen for a few minutes and then forget.

But when a story is acted out, something changes.
How about we act on it instead of just talking about it?
They see the consequences.
They see themselves in the characters.

That is why we use skits and plays in our awareness work.
A skit can turn statistics into real-life experiences.
It can help a parent understand their child.
It can help a young person recognize abuse.
It can help a community start conversations that were previously ignored.
Sometimes the message is not heard because it is spoken.
Sometimes it is heard because it is seen.
How about we act it instead of just talking about it?
Because awareness is not only about informing people.
It is about helping them understand, feel, and take action.
A stage can become a classroom. A skit can become a lesson. And a story can become the beginning of change

At Wounded Healers Foundation, we believe education goes beyond books and classrooms. It is about building confidence, restoring hope, developing life skills, and creating opportunities for a brighter future.

Through our programs, we empower young people, teen mothers, and vulnerable individuals with practical skills, mentorship, and support that help them become self-reliant and reach their full potential.

Every lesson learned is a step toward independence.
Every skill gained is a pathway to opportunity.
Every life transformed strengthens our community.

🌱 It's not about learning aloneβ€”it's about growing, healing, and thriving together.

We were honored to join CREAW today for the launch of their Strategic Plan 2026–2030, a bold roadmap outlining their vision and priorities for advancing gender justice and deepening impact for women and girls over the next five years.

The event brought together partners and stakeholders committed to creating lasting change for women and girls. It was a valuable opportunity to learn, connect, and reflect on the collective efforts needed to build safer, more equitable communities where women and girls can thrive.

Congratulations to the team on this important milestone. We wish them every success as they embark on this new strategic journey and look forward to seeing the impact of this vision in the years ahead.

We had a powerful and impactful mentorship session with learners at Ndii-ini Primary School aimed at empowering young minds through knowledge, guidance, and open conversations.

During the session, we created awareness on:
πŸ“Œ Sexual Violence Prevention
πŸ“Œ Menstruation & Girls’ Health
πŸ“Œ Peer Pressure
πŸ“Œ Self-Awareness & Confidence Building

The learners actively participated, asked questions, and shared their thoughts, making the session interactive and meaningful. Through mentorship, we continue to inspire, educate, and create safe spaces where young people can grow with confidence and make informed decisions for their future.
Together, we are raising a generation that is informed, empowered, and courageous.

Over the past weeks, we have continued visiting schools to create awareness about sexual violence and its impact on children, teenagers, and the community at large. Through open discussions, drama presentations, mentorship sessions, and interactive engagement, we are empowering students with knowledge on how to speak up, seek help, and protect themselves.

Sexual violence leaves deep emotional, psychological, and social effects, and that is why awareness and education remain important in building safer spaces for young people. We believe that every child deserves to grow in an environment free from fear, abuse, and silence.

Together, we can break the stigma, encourage reporting, support survivors, and create a generation that stands against violence. πŸ€πŸ’™

At 16 years old, she was supposed to be worrying about homework, friendships, and her future.
Instead, she was worrying about where she would sleep with her baby.
Many teenage mothers do not only struggle with raising a child.
They struggle with rejection.
When her pregnancy started showing, the whispers began.
People judged her before they knew her story.
Some called her a disappointment.
Some avoided her.
Some told her she had ruined her life.
Some girls are chased from home.
Some drop out of school.
Some are isolated by friends and community.
Some carry shame that society placed on them.
Eventually, home no longer feels like home.
She carries her baby in one arm and rejection in the other.
Behind many teenage pregnancies are stories people rarely ask about:
Sexual violence.
Poverty.
Manipulation.
Neglect.
And young girls trying to survive in a world that stopped being kind to them too soon.
At the City of Peace Shelter under the Wounded Healers Foundation and , we open our doors to girls who have nowhere else to go.
Here, they find safety.
Counseling.
Food.
Education.
Skills training.
Daycare support for their babies.
And people who remind them that their lives still matter.
But keeping the shelter running is not easy.
Today, we are asking for your support.
Your donation can help provide food, baby supplies, sanitary products, bedding, school support, and hope to a teenage mother and her child.
Sometimes healing begins because one person decided to care.

Yesterday was a powerful and impactful day for our youth team as they presented the Nilinde Skit at Mwiki Primary School.

Through creative storytelling and performance, our young actors boldly addressed the issue of sexual violence, raising awareness and encouraging open conversations among students. The skit not only educated but also empowered learners to speak up, seek help, and protect one another.

We are proud of our talented youth for using their voices and creativity to drive change in the community. This is more than dramaβ€”it’s a movement for awareness, prevention, and hope.

Our youth continue to shine through creativity and expression in our Drama & Skit Production Program. Through powerful performances, they are not only building confidence and talent, but also using their voices to address real issues affecting our communities β€” including awareness on sexual violence, peer pressure, and positive life choices.
This program provides a safe space for young people to express themselves, tell their stories, and inspire change through art. From scriptwriting to performance, every step is a journey of growth, teamwork, and empowerment.
We are proud to see our youth transforming their experiences into impactful messages that educate, engage, and uplift the community.
✨ Empowering voices. Inspiring change. Building the future.

We successfully hosted an impactful tournament at Kizito Grounds, bringing together young people for a day full of energy, teamwork, and purpose.

Beyond the game, the tournament served as a powerful platform to create awareness on sexual violence, encouraging open conversations, education, and unity within the community. Through sports, we continue to inspire change and empower the next generation to stand up for what is right.

A big thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and made this event a success. Together, we are building safer and stronger communities.
