We were represented by our Programs Lead and dedicated SRHR advocate Mercy Ombogo at the Annual Nyalenda Period Festival, organized by our partners at Dream Redefined Organization.

Held under the powerful theme “Period-Friendly World,” the festival brought together change-makers, advocates, and community members to raise awareness on menstrual health and challenge the stigma surrounding menstruation.

At Grassroots Transforming Network (GTN), we remain deeply committed to advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), particularly among adolescent girls and women in vulnerable grassroots communities. Through mentorship, education, and community-led initiatives, we continue to work toward a future where menstruation is not a barrier—but a normal part of life that is met with dignity, support, and access to resources.

We thank Dream Redefined and director Yvonne Ogollah for championing this important cause. Together, we are building a world where no girl misses opportunities because of her period.

In our 2024 September newsletter, Bernard Joyce, the Director of New Paradigms Consulting and a passionate global advocate for sustainable rural development shared insightful thoughts on the synergies between Ireland and Kenya, particularly highlighting the impactful work of the Grassroots Transforming Network (GTN) in Kenya.

Bernard did not only praise GTN’s community-driven approach, which focuses on empowering children, youth, and women to create lasting change, but also suggested that European Countries such as Ireland could learn from GTN's holistic approach.

Additionally he explored the concept of “The Connected Community,” emphasizing the importance of uncovering and utilizing the hidden assets within neighborhoods while still tapping into the potential for global collaboration.

Bernard’s article is a great read for anyone interested in community transformation, sustainability, and global collaboration. His extensive experience in rural development offers valuable insights into how we can all contribute to a more sustainable and connected future.
