Five days. One community. Countless dreams in motion. ⚽🚀

The 5th KK Community Tournament is a reminder of what happens when young people are given space to belong, to grow, and to believe in their future.

Anchored by Aguko Foundation’s program, this grassroots football tournament is more than just a game. It’s a safe, inclusive space where youth stay positively engaged, girls take their place on the pitch, and talent meets opportunity.

Now in its fifth year, the KK Tournament has grown into a trusted community platform, promoting unity, discipline, mentorship, and youth empowerment. The 2025 edition saw increased participation, strong community ownership, and the presence of scouts leading to real pathways for young players beyond the tournament.

Together we can make a difference.

There is something powerful about watching girls step onto the pitch with confidence.

At the 5th KK Community Tournament, girls were not just participants, they were competitors, teammates, and leaders claiming their space in sport and in the future being shaped around them.

When girls are given equal opportunity, safe spaces, and support, they rise, lifting their communities with them. At Aguko Foundation, inclusion isn’t an afterthought. It’s the foundation, and this is the future we continue to build together.

One of the most powerful moments at our community tournament is seeing talent recognised in real time.

Through scouting conducted during the tournament, MOFA Organisation identified 12 boys who were awarded scholarships for Grade 10 placement in different secondary schools, including Ringa Boys High School, Kisumu Day Secondary School, Alara High School, and Mariwa Boys High School.

This is the beauty of sports for development, where talent meets opportunity.

Strength, confidence, and pure love for the game. Kabonyo Queens played with courage and belief from start to finish. They didn’t just win; they inspired.

Congratulations to Kabonyo Queens for lifting the trophy and showing every girl watching that the pitch belongs to them too. 👑⚽

🏆 Winners in Men’s Category | Nduru Youth

Consistency, teamwork, and heart — Nduru Youth showed us what it means to play for each other. Match after match, they stayed focused, disciplined, and determined.

Congratulations to Nduru Youth for earning the top spot at the 5th annual Kabonyo Kanyagwal Community Tournament and reminding us that when young people are given space and support, they rise.

Like many rural communities, the holidays can be a risky time. Idle days, limited opportunities, and the pull of drugs or crime.

The KK Community Tournament continues to show how sports can change such stories and create shared purpose and positive outcomes in the community.

This tournament isn’t just keeping youth busy, it’s keeping them hopeful. And sometimes, that makes all the difference.

Five years ago, we started with a simple question. What happens when community comes together through sport?

Last year in December, we saw the answer unfold right before our eyes. Boys and girls showing up with confidence and teams built on discipline, trust, and talent.

From 21st to 25th December 2025, Arombo Primary School became a safe space for unity and opportunity. The 5th Annual Kabonyo Kanyagwal Community Tournament brought together over 500 young people from Kadibo and surrounding communities, offering structured, positive engagement through sport during the holidays.

This is what Sports for Development looks like when it starts at the community level and grows from there.

Special thanks to our partners SportPesa, the County Government of Kisumu, Football Kenya Federation and TurnPro Academy.
