Empowering women in artisanal mining is not just a goal—it’s a movement in action.

On 24th March 2026, Women in Mining Kenya, in collaboration with Lolgy Mining, successfully supported the registration and training of the Mwangaza wa Dhabu Women Group in Lolgorian.

This milestone highlights a powerful truth: when women miners are formalized and equipped with the right skills, transformation happens.

Through this initiative, the women gained practical knowledge in:
• Safer mining practices
• Mercury risk reduction
• Record keeping for financial growth
• Gender-based violence awareness

Why this matters: Formalization opens doors to recognition and opportunity, while capacity building strengthens resilience, productivity, and sustainability. Together, they create pathways to finance, markets, and improved livelihoods.

We are already witnessing the impact—and this is only the beginning.
