Rongo University | January 2026
🎓 Official Launch of the SUNCEP SNE Retooling / Bridging Programme

Ubin-Adam Afrika Foundation is pleased to share highlights from the successful launch of the SUNCEP Teacher Training Programme, held at Rongo University.

The event marked an important milestone in advancing inclusive and Special Needs Education through structured teacher capacity building and strong institutional partnerships.

We were honoured to be joined by:

Rongo University leadership and faculty, including the Vice Chancellor / Rector, who reflected on the journey from the programme’s initial conceptual presentation four years ago to its realization today, and commended the initiative as a timely and impactful model;

Faculty and representatives from key Rongo University departments, including Education, IT, Finance, Admissions, and Administration, whose engagement underscores the University’s institutional commitment to the programme;

Our international partners Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) – Bárczi Gusztáv Faculty of Special Needs Education and ADRA Hungary, who participated virtually and delivered insightful and inspiring contributions;

School leaders and the 15 participating teachers from our partner schools, who form the inaugural SUNCEP training cohort.

The SUNCEP SNE Retooling / Bridging Programme is a three-month blended training programme beginning yesterday, jointly implemented by Rongo University and ELTE university in Hungary, and leading to joint certification. This first cohort represents a foundational step in a longer-term school development pathway focused on strengthening inclusive teaching practice within local communities.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all partners, educators, and stakeholders whose collaboration and shared vision made this launch possible.

We are delighted to share highlights from yesterday's preliminary stakeholder meeting held at the beautiful Victoria Pride Resort, Lake Victoria shores, Muhuru-Bay.

Ubin-Adam Afrika hosted representatives from our five partner primary schools, and we were encouraged by the rich discussions, and genuine enthusiasm shown by all participants. The meeting provided an opportunity to further introduce the work of Ubin-Adam Afrika, with special emphasis on our SUNCEP project, which focuses on strengthening inclusive and special needs education in rural schools.

Most excitingly, we officially introduced plans for an upcoming joint teacher training programme in collaboration with Rongo University (Kenya) and Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), Hungary, through the Bárczi Gusztáv Faculty of Special Needs Education. The programme, scheduled to begin in January 2026, marks an important milestone in building sustainable, long-term capacity for special needs education through international collaboration.

We are deeply grateful for the commitment of our school partners and excited about what lies ahead as we work together to improve educational access and quality for children with disabilities.

Together, we are building pathways for inclusive education.

World Disability Day 2025: Advancing Inclusion; Strengthening Communities.

Today, we celebrate World Disability Day by reflecting on the progress God has enabled us to make in building a more inclusive future for children in Migori County.

Over the past months, we’ve seen encouraging milestones—from continued support by Hungary Helps and ADRA Hungary, to ongoing corrective surgeries for children, and expanded clean water access in partner schools. Each step has brought hope and dignity to the children and families we serve.

🌟 Looking Ahead: Teacher Training Begins January 2026
We are excited to announce the launch of a new joint special needs education training programme between ELTE Bárczi Gusztáv Faculty of Special Needs Education (Hungary) and Rongo University (Kenya).
Starting January 2026, 15 teachers from our five partner schools will begin a three-month blended training programme, leading to a joint certification from ELTE BGGYK and Rongo University. This pilot marks a major step toward long-term capacity building for inclusive education in rural communities.

As we commemorate this day, we remain grateful for every partner, every supporter, and every child whose resilience inspires us.
Indeed, we have come this far by the grace of God.
