Today marked the conclusion of an intensive two-week training on fire safety and prevention, in which volunteers from Meru Branch actively participated. Todayโ€™s event was held at Kinoru Stadium, where the training closed with trainees presenting a recap of the skills and knowledge acquired over the period.

The program was sponsored by Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue England alongside their paramedics and community coordinators. The training was facilitated by emergency experts from Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and the East of England Ambulance Service in the United Kingdom, in partnership with local emergency responders.

Key areas covered included water safety, CPR, management of gunshot wounds, and response to fire incidents combining both theoretical and practical hands-on sessions. The trainees were awarded certificates upon completion.

In attendance were the AG. Director of Special Programs, Disaster Management and Rescue Kiambi Lena; Area MP Hon.Rahim dawood; CECs from Meru, Tharaka Nithi, and Embu counties; the County Coordinator of KRCS Meru and Tharaka Nithi branches, Madam Jerusha; and the Chairman of the Board of KRCS Mark Davis

Participants were also awarded medals in recognition of their successful completion of the training, while the three participating counties received trophies to symbolize their participation and collective contribution.

The ceremony brought together stakeholders from different regions, reinforcing our strength and capacity to effectively respond to disasters within our counties.

Meru Branch volunteers are currently participating in a two-week intensive Fire Safety and Prevention Training at Kinoru Stadium, Meru County, alongside fire rescue teams from Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi, as well as other community stakeholders.

The training is facilitated by emergency experts from Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and the East of England Ambulance Service in the United Kingdom, in partnership with local emergency responders.

Key focus areas include fire causes and prevention, safe evacuation procedures, home fire safety, first aid for burns, and response to gunshot injuries, all aimed at strengthening emergency preparedness and response capacity within the region.

The sessions are graced by the Ag. Director of Special Programs, Disaster Management and Rescue, Lenah Kiambi, alongside Adiel Mugambi. Earlier engagements also included community outreach with boda boda leaders on road safety awareness and basic first aid, further reinforcing community-level preparedness.

On 25th April 2026, members and volunteers of KRCS Meru Branch gathered at BF Suma Hall, Ntaara Plaza for the Annual General Meeting to reflect on our journey, celebrate milestones, and strategize for the future.

The meeting marked an important step towards strengthening the branch through deliberate strategies focused on growth, sustainability, resource mobilization, partnerships, and increased member engagement.

Together, we reaffirmed our commitment to building a resilient and self-sustaining branch that continues to enhance service delivery and expand humanitarian outreach within our communities.

The day concluded with a visit to the Mulathankari plot, where members explored its potential in supporting the branchโ€™s long-term development goals.

On 4th April 2026, KRCS Meru Branch successfully convened a Volunteers and Members Meeting at BF Suma Hall, Ntara Plaza, Meru Town. The consultative forum brought together dedicated volunteers and members to strengthen teamwork, enhance coordination, and foster unity within the branch.

The meeting was also graced by representatives from the regional team, led by the Regional Chairperson, further emphasizing the importance of collaboration across all levels.

The session provided a platform for open engagement, reflection, and feedback on ongoing programs, generating valuable insights to guide future planning and decision-making.
