Yesterday, our staff brought together the Head of Institution (HOI) and Link Teachers from our partner schools to officially launch planning for this year's fundraising campaign!

Together, the committee has set an ambitious goal of raising 2 million KSh!

The group spent the day identifying fundraising strategies and engaging key stakeholders to help make this campaign a success. The momentum is building, and the fundraising drive is officially underway.

📅 Mark your calendars—October 3 will be our biggest fundraising day of the year in Kenya!

Strong partnerships build stronger communities. 💙

Earlier this week, Umoja staff held a guardians' meeting at Ogada and Kuoyo Comprehensive Schools to strengthen our relationship with the communities and students we serve.

During the meetings, we shared updates on our term programs and discussed plans for the upcoming October 3 fundraising event we will be hosting in Kenya. We are grateful for the meaningful conversations and the continued support of our guardians as we work together to create brighter futures for children in our communities.

Together, we can make an even greater impact. 🌱

Building confident voices and critical thinkers! 🗣️✨

Yesterday, Umoja Foundation Reason 2 Smile Library staff hosted its debate program at St. George's Sianda Secondary School (first time), where more than 170 Form 3 and Form 4 students took part in a lively debate on the motion:

"The government should restrict learners' access to social media."

Students confidently argued both sides of the motion, demonstrating impressive critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork. Teachers also joined the session, making it an engaging and interactive half-day program. 🎤

The positive response from both students and staff was overwhelming, with many expressing their hope that Umoja will bring more programs like this in the future.

A heartfelt thank you to Umoja Partnership for helping make opportunities like this possible. Together, we're equipping students with the skills to think critically, communicate confidently, and become tomorrow's leaders. 💙

Our Marera Comprehensive School students lined up peacefully as they waited to be served lunch. A simple meal can make a powerful difference — giving children the energy to learn, grow, and dream bigger every day.

Our Umoja students receive nutritious lunch daily which helps support their education journey and will lead to brighter futures for their communities. 🌍✨

📢 Leadership Update from the Umoja Project

Following the resignation of longtime Kenyan Director Leonard Otiende, Linda Olaysa has been appointed Interim Director. Linda has been part of the project since shortly after its inception and has served as Deputy Director since 2018. Her dedication to the children we serve makes her a natural choice to lead during this transition.

We are deeply grateful to Leonard for his 8 years of leadership and commitment to the Umoja Project and the thousands of children impacted through its programs. ❤️
