What started as a conversation has now become a lasting message for the community.

Following our youth civic dialogue,students from muyeye vocational training institute shared powerful reflections on the importance of informed voting, defending their rights and promoting peaceful participation in democratic processes. Together, we transformed these voices into a public mural carrying one clear message: “Kura Yako, Haki Yako, Maisha Yako” (Your Vote, Your Right, Your Life).

This mural stands as a daily reminder that every young person has the power to make informed choices, reject electoral violence and manipulation and champion peace and accountable leadership.

At Hope 4 Women Center, we believe that meaningful dialogue should inspire lasting action and this mural is a testament to the power of youth voices shaping their own future.

At Mere Social Hall, Ganda Ward-Malindi under the Toolkit Organizers project with support from Peace Brigades International - Kenya Project facilitated a Murals for Peace message development dialogue that brought together community members to develop messages promoting peaceful, inclusive and violence-free elections.

Participants identified key concerns affecting the community, including teenage pregnancies, school dropouts, sexual harassment, gender-based violence, voter bribery and the exploitation of women, girls and young people during election periods. Together, they co-created powerful messages calling for the protection of human rights, the rejection of electoral violence and political manipulation, and the promotion of peaceful civic participation.

These community-driven messages have now been transformed into vibrant murals that serve as lasting symbols of peace, accountability and hope reminding us all that peace begins with informed communities and collective action.

Today, we engaged young people in Muyeye Malindi in an interactive community dialogue on stress and mental well-being. Together, we explored the types and causes of stress, healthy coping strategies and practical stress reduction techniques.

Each participant developed a Personal Stress Management Plan and received information on the mental health referral pathway, ensuring they know where to access professional support whenever they need it.

We are grateful to Peace Brigades International - Kenya Project under the Bizkaiko Foru Aldundia - Diputación Foral de Bizkaia program for their invaluable support in making this initiative possible and to salima njoki for her dedication and contribution to empowering young people with life-changing knowledge and skills.

By equipping youth with practical tools and connecting them to support services, we are strengthening resilience, promoting positive mental health and building communities where seeking help is encouraged and stigma is reduced.

A community dialogue on child rights and the ongoing school unrest was held in Malindi Subcounty to raise awareness and promote collective action towards child protection and safe learning environments. The activity brought together community members to discuss challenges affecting children and identify practical solutions.

The dialogue focused on children’s rights, factors contributing to school unrest and the role of parents, teachers and the community in creating supportive spaces for children. Participants emphasized the need for open communication, guidance, mentorship and stronger community involvement in children’s well-being.

The session ended with a shared commitment that protecting children is a collective responsibility and every child deserves a safe environment where they can learn, grow, and thrive.

Empowering young mothers today means investing in stronger families and more resilient communities tomorrow.

Together with partner organizations, we had the privilege of engaging over 200 teen mothers at Greenland Girls Takaye Malindi,in an impactful mentorship session focused on building confidence, strengthening support systems, and creating pathways for positive change.

The discussions covered positive parenting, self-awareness, self-esteem, mental wellness, personal growth,healthy relationships, leadership and the importance of making informed choices for both mothers and their children.

The session created a safe and empowering space where young mothers could learn, share experiences and be reminded of their strength, potential and ability to shape brighter futures.

Today we joined the world in commemorating Day of the African Child through a community dialogue held at Ganda ward Malindi subcounty on children’s rights, child protection and safe learning environments.

The discussion focused on this year’s theme, access to water, sanitation and hygiene for every child, while also addressing the ongoing school unrest in Kenya and its impact on children’s right to education, safety and wellbeing. Participants highlighted the importance of child participation, positive parenting, mental health support and strengthening community efforts to protect children from violence, abuse and exploitation.

The dialogue concluded with collective commitments to promote children’s rights, support peaceful conflict resolution in schools and create safer and more inclusive environments where every child can learn, grow and thrive.

A successful community dialogue was held in Shella Ward,Malindi bringing together Sabasaba youths to engage in open discussions on the rising cases of femicide and defilement affecting young people in the community. The session created a safe space for participants to share experiences, reflect on root causes, and explore practical solutions for prevention and response.

The youths emphasized the importance of early reporting, community responsibility, and collective action in protecting children and safeguarding the dignity and safety of women and girls. The dialogue strengthened awareness and renewed commitment among participants to stand against all forms of gender-based violence and to promote safer communities for all.

We had a townhall dialogue in Mkaomoto Ganda Ward,bringing together youths and young mothers to discuss the growing issue of femicide and violence against women and girls.

The discussion was guided by the alarming cases of femicide, reminding us of the urgent need to protect children and end gender-based violence in our communities.

Participants discussed the causes, warning signs, and impacts of femicide while encouraging early reporting, community responsibility and collective action to create safer spaces for women and girls.

Hope 4 Women Center is outraged by the brutal r**e and murder of eight year old Keziah. This is not just a tragedy it is a failure of systems meant to protect children.

We demand immediate action. Investigations must be swift, transparent, and uncompromising. Those responsible must be arrested and prosecuted without delay.

How many more children must suffer before decisive action is taken?

Keziah deserved safety. She deserved protection. She deserved a future.

We stand firmly with her family and all those grieving this painful loss. Their call for justice is our call too.

We join voices across the country under to demand accountability and an end to violence against children.

To duty bearers: protecting children is not optional. It is your responsibility.

To communities: speak up, report abuse, and refuse to stay silent. Silence enables violence.

Justice for Keziah must be immediate and
