Ubani Trust Ubani Trust is a Faith based Charitable Trust that seeks to end Child Sexual Exploitation to teenage girls in Nairobi, Kenya.

UBANI TRUST APPROACH

1.School mentorship programs:
Through our school mentorship programs, we work in partnership with the schools within the informal settlements. Our life skills curriculum focuses on equipping the teenage girls with life coping skills, Goal Setting and Leadership Development.

2. Scholarship programs:
Through our interactions with the community, identify needy teenage girls and support them through school. Unlike most scholarship programs which are merit based, we acknowledge the effects of trauma in the lives of the girls we work with and avail scholarship opportunities to all who desire to study and pursue professional careers.

3. Trauma informed integrated care to the teenagers:
As we work within the informal settlements, we have been made aware of the need for trauma care as many girls have been victims of traumatic experiences. Domestic violence and r**e in the homes is so rampant and the trauma affects the psychosocial development of these girls and predisposes them to the risk of being exploited.

4. Economic empowerment of teenage mums and children who head households:
Poverty and r**e have contributed to the high rate of teenage pregnancies as most of the girls are sexually exploited by their families through prostitution in order to contribute to the family income. Through our economic empowerment programs, the teenage mothers and teenage girls who head their household will find healthier and non exploitative ways of earning a decent living income while they learn vocational skills that will help them be financially independent financially in the long run.

When you look at the handcrafted pieces created in our Social Enterprise department at Ubani Trust, you’re not just looking at products. You’re looking at late nights, new skills mastered and young mothers taking back control of their futures.

Over the last decade, this department has been so much more than a workspace. It’s been a community where young women learn, earn and build dignified lives for themselves and their children.

Education doesn't just change one life — it changes a family's whole trajectory.
Our Education Support Program goes beyond supporting young mothers alone... Because when a mother isn't carrying everything alone, she can actually move forward.
We want to take a moment to say thank you — to every single person who has given to this program. Without your support, we wouldn't have come this far, and we wouldn't have been able to support the 22 girls and children who've walked this journey with us.

For a teen mother, walking back into a classroom often means facing whispers, stares, and a label that follows her everywhere: "teen mom."

Ubani Trust's homeschooling program exists so that doesn't have to be her story. In a safe space, free from bullying and judgment, rescued girls get to simply be students again — learning, growing, and rebuilding their future one lesson at a time.

Girls who once carried silence, now carry hope. Girls who once felt broken, now stand grounded, whole and equipped for their future.

As we celebrate 10 Years of Ubani Trust, Caroline Onyango takes us inside our Restoring Hope Program, a holistic 2-year intervention designed to heal the whole girl: emotionally, spiritually, physically, mentally and socially.

Through one-on-one counseling, art therapy and vocational training, girls process pain, build trust and gain real tools for independence.

A gift of land doesn't always look like a miracle right away — sometimes it just looks like dirt and potential.
A donor gave Ubani Trust 10 acres of land, and today that land is doing more than we imagined: goats grazing, food growing, and a real path toward sustainability taking shape. It's helping us provide for our girls in ways that don't depend entirely on outside funding — a gift that keeps giving, season after season.
As we celebrate 10 years of Ubani Trust, we're grateful for the generosity that planted this seed, and excited about the harvest still to come.

In 2022, a group of well-wishers looked at the need around them and decided to do something about it. What they built was Hope Center — a shelter in Ngong for girls at risk of trafficking.
Since it opened, Hope Center has become exactly what its name promises: a safe space where girls have found care, refuge, and the chance to begin healing. For many of them, it's the first place they've ever felt truly safe.
As we celebrate 10 years of Ubani Trust, we want to honor the generosity that made this shelter possible — and every girl whose story has changed because of it.
