Frontiers Children Development Organization (FCDO) has successfully procured and distributed 22 local goats to selected households in Loturerei as part of its ongoing livelihoods support initiative aimed at improving the wellbeing of children and their caregivers.

This activity forms part of a wider plan to distribute 80 local goats to 80 households across Loturerei, Kaitese, Lorugum, and Namoruputh zones this year. The initiative seeks to strengthen household food security and economic resilience among enrolled families through sustainable livestock support.

Prior to the distribution, beneficiary households received training on proper goat management from officers from the County Government Livestock Department to promote good care, productivity, and long-term benefits from the animals.

Parents and caregivers expressed great joy and appreciation during the distribution meeting, thanking FCDO for the timely support. Many noted that the goats will help improve household income, nutrition, and future stability for their children.

FCDO remains committed to empowering vulnerable families through practical and sustainable livelihood interventions that create lasting impact within the community.

The Kenya Children Assembly (KCA) – Turkana County Chapter 2026 convened a three-day county leadership engagement from 22nd to 24th April 2026 at St. James Minor Seminary in Lodwar, under the stewardship of the State Department for Children Services (SDCS). The initiative was designed to strengthen child participation structures by equipping children with the knowledge and skills to actively engage in governance, advocacy, and policy dialogue, with particular emphasis on WASH and climate-related issues affecting children in Turkana County.

As a key partner, Frontiers Children Development Organization (FCDO) was honored to facilitate the participation of ten children representing those enrolled on our programmes. Their involvement reflected FCDO’s ongoing commitment to nurturing child leadership, promoting inclusion, and advancing meaningful participation of children in governance processes.

On the first day, child representatives from across the county engaged in interactive sessions focused on leadership, governance, ethics, and child participation frameworks. Through problem-mapping exercises centered on WASH and climate change, participants identified critical issues impacting children and explored governance systems to better understand decision-making processes and avenues for advocacy. These sessions significantly enhanced their knowledge, confidence, and leadership capabilities.

The second day centered on democratic leadership processes, where participants were guided through campaign planning, manifesto development, and candidate debates, culminating in the election of KCA County leadership through a supervised secret ballot. The exercise was officiated by the Deputy Governor, Hon John Erus, whose presence reaffirmed the county government’s dedication to fostering child participation and youth leadership. Additionally, participants developed and validated a children’s memorandum outlining their key priorities and recommendations. FCDO proudly celebrates the election of both the Child Speaker and Child Deputy Speaker from its supported cohort, representing Loima and Turkana Central Sub-Counties respectively.

The programme concluded on the third day with sub-county action planning, leadership induction, life skills training, and a closing ceremony. Overall, the engagement strengthened children’s voices, enhanced their leadership and advocacy capacities, and reinforced their inclusion in county-level decision-making processes.

“Planting Hope for a Greener Future"
Following a highly productive engagement with fellow ChildFund Kenya Implementing Partners, the CEO of Frontiers Children Development Organization (FCDO) led a symbolic and impactful tree planting activity at the FCDO compound.

This initiative was more than just a gesture—it reflected FCDO’s continued commitment to sustainable development and community resilience. Tree planting plays a critical role in addressing the effects of climate change by enhancing carbon sequestration, restoring ecosystems, and improving environmental health. At the same time, it contributes to food security through the promotion of agroforestry and sustainable land use practices.

As one of FCDO’s key thematic areas, climate change mitigation remains central to our programming. By integrating environmental conservation into our activities, we not only safeguard natural resources but also empower communities to build sustainable livelihoods.

This activity stands as a testament to the power of partnership and collective action in creating a greener, more food-secure future for generations to come.

In recognition of NGO's Week, the CEO of Frontiers Children Development Organization (FCDO), alongside fellow CEOs from various local implementing partner organizations, convened for a consultative meeting with the team from the Public Benefits Organizations Regulatory Authority (PBORA).

The meeting provided a valuable platform for engagement and dialogue on the regulatory framework established by the Republic of Kenya to guide the operations of charitable organizations. Key discussions focused on compliance requirements, governance standards, and measures put in place to enhance accountability, transparency, and effective service delivery within the sector.

The engagement also brought forth several key benefits. It enhanced understanding of legal and regulatory requirements among organizations, ensuring better compliance and reduced risk of operational challenges.

The meeting strengthened collaboration and trust between regulators and NGOs, creating a supportive environment for addressing sector challenges. It also provided an opportunity for organizations to seek clarification on emerging policies, share experiences, and align their programs with national development priorities.

Additionally, the interaction promoted best practices in governance and financial management, ultimately contributing to more effective and sustainable community impact.
This engagement underscores the shared commitment of both regulatory bodies and implementing partners to strengthen the NGO sector, ensure compliance with national laws, and deliver meaningful change to communities across Kenya.

The “Keep Kenya Learning” (KKL) project is a transformative initiative designed to ensure that learning never stops, even in the face of adversity. Implemented by Frontiers Children Development Organisation in partnership with Dignitas

At its core, Keep Kenya Learning is about resilience ensuring that children in low-resourced and underserved communities continue to access quality education despite disruptions such as pandemics, climate shocks, or socio-economic challenges. The project recognizes that learning extends beyond the classroom and places families and communities at the center of education.

A key pillar of the initiative is supporting learning at home. Through this approach, caregivers are empowered with practical tools, guidance, and resources to actively participate in their children’s education. This does not only strengthens foundational learning but also nurtures a culture of shared responsibility between schools and households.

Through its implementation, Frontiers Children Development Organisation is bridging gaps in access to education by reaching the most vulnerable learners, equipping educators with adaptive teaching strategies, and fostering community-driven solutions. The project ultimately contributes to building an inclusive and resilient education system where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive regardless of circumstances.

Focus on Caregivers: KKL empowers parents and guardians, addressing their need for confidence and resources to support education at home, especially when they feel limited by their own education level. recently, we completed the engagements with parents in Nadapal location - Loima subcounty

It's a significant milestone for our team as we proudly received three motorbikes from our valued partner, Mercy Corps after the end of the projects supported by USAID NAWIRI.

These motorbikes will greatly enhance our mobility and efficiency in reaching communities, especially in remote areas where access has always been a challenge. They are not just assets—they are a symbol of strengthened partnership, trust, and our shared commitment to service delivery.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Mercy Corps for their continued collaboration and support, and to for funding impactful initiatives that are transforming lives on the ground.

Together, we are making meaningful strides in improving livelihoods and building resilient communities.

Frontiers Children Development Organization (FCDO), an implementing partner of the Karamoja Strong Program funded by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), continues to play a vital role in strengthening community resilience across the Karamoja cluster.

As part of or commitment to quality implementation and accountability, a team from FCDO, together with counterparts from DRC, conducted a joint site monitoring visit across project locations in Lobei, Lochor Emeyen, Lokiriama, Urum, and Loreng’ipi. The purpose of the visit was to assess ongoing interventions, monitor progress, and engage directly with beneficiary communities.

Guided by the program’s slogan, “Community Led Resilience,” the project focuses on equipping farmers with practical skills in resilient design practices. Through hands-on training, farmers have gained knowledge in sustainable land management techniques such as swales and berm construction for water retention, water catchment preparation for tree planting, deep soil preparation through bio-intensive double digging, and improved planting methods.

These interventions are transforming how communities interact with their environment. By improving soil fertility, conserving water, and increasing the survival rates of crops and trees in arid and semi-arid areas, households are gradually strengthening their food production systems. This is significantly reducing their vulnerability to recurring drought and unpredictable rainfall.

Through strong collaboration and community-driven approaches, FCDO and DRC are fostering sustainable livelihoods and building a more resilient future for communities across the Karamoja cluster.
