A Literate Pastor and a Diploma Teacher Discipled by an Illiterate Woman.

DMM Journey- How Margaret reached out to me
Despite being literate and currently serving as a pastor at X Church in Lodwar, holding a diploma certificate in Early Childhood and Education, the way Pastor Margaret approached me was very different. She is illiterate, but her approach was powerful, and one could not look down upon her because of her illiteracy. The first time she reached out to me, she opened a Bible and asked me to read. She then began asking me what I had learned from the scripture, and I found myself discovering many things. It was as though I was teaching myself, guided by her questions.

ACHIEVEMENT/SUCCESSES
In the church that I am ministering, there are a lot of people and we have divided ourselves into different groups where people meet in their respective groups and study the word of God. It has been our culture to start with a discovery during our church services and on weekly programs that happens every Thursday of the week and any other day if anything arises. People have started being active in God’s work after discovering so many things about Gods kingdom by themselves. Initially, they used to think it’s pastor’s word when he preached to them and become a challenge for them to obey but since when they were introduced to a bible study, they have realized that its God who speaks.

I being a teacher, I have started school for old people to help them to know how to read and write and in that school, I have introduced a discovery Bible studies where we always start with a DBS before we start our actual class. I have 5 active DBS groups, I started one and members from this groups started other 4 DBS and one transitioning church that have stayed for a period of two months as a discovery group before transitioning.

GREAT COMMISSON
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:19-20).

Often called the “great commission,” these are the concluding words of the Gospel of Matthew—and a rallying cry for the church that Matthew believes was the purpose and expression of Jesus' message and ministry. I think what's said in this brief passage is important. I think what's not said, but often assumed, is equally important.

COMMENT
Jesus often, in all the Gospels, tells his followers to carry his work forward. He sends his closest disciples out in pairs to towns throughout Israel. He doesn't tell them simply to talk about Jesus and the works he is demonstrating. He tells them to perform their own healings and expressions of spiritual abundance. So it is here. It's often been believed that he is telling his disciples to convert the world to the religion of Jesus. But that's not what he says. He tells them to continue his spiritual work, to continue teaching and expressing the creative energy of God expressed through Father, Son and Holy Ghost—Source, Idea and Expression. "Obey everything that I have commanded you" means “Honor the universal spiritual principles that I have been teaching and demonstrating, and encourage others to do the same.” Jesus—his guidance, his love, his patient faith in our innate spiritual power and our ability to express it—is, indeed, with us through this entire human adventure. But the work of healing, prospering—creating the new consciousness that is the kingdom of heaven—that's ours to accomplish by following the example of Jesus, expressing our own Christ Power, and affirming the same Power in all others, no matter what particular path they might follow. Blessings!

Jesus and his disciples were always on the move, seeking out lost souls rather than staying in one place. Their mission wasn't about addition but multiplication, not just converting but making disciples. Let's embrace this dynamic approach and work towards fulfilling God's vision by actively reaching out to those in need of both guidance and grace.

Jesus helped people feel better in their hearts and also made sure they had enough to eat. He taught important things and did miracles, like making a little food feed a lot of people. This shows that caring for both the mind and body is essential, and it encourages us to do the same for others.

In my Turkana tribe, women are the builders of our houses. It shows that women are really hardworking. So, let's include women and make them followers too. Jesus told us all to go and make followers, and that includes women.

Who Are You Called To Reach?

Do you currently have a clear sense of who God is calling you to reach? If so, who are they?
What are you and your team currently doing to engage or disciple them?

Let's challenge ourselves with these questions.
