💧✨ Change Begins at Home, and It Is Happening in Hindi

In the villages of Belebele and Mtepeni, a quiet transformation is unfolding. Families are constructing latrines, setting up handwashing stations, and embracing everyday practices that promote health and dignity.

During a recent visit, the Kenya Red Cross Society , under the Sustainable Management and Access to Water and Sanitation in ASAL Program (SWASAp), witnessed inspiring progress. What stood out most was the hope and commitment within the community.

With the continued support of Community Health Promoters and village committees, families are turning knowledge into lasting change. Each step brings the dream of clean, safe, and resilient villages closer to reality.

🌊💙 Today, Our Lamu community came together for something bigger than ourselves. Volunteers from Kenya Red Cross Society lamu-Branch, alongside lamu youth alliance,WWF-Kenya, CHPs, the Lamu County Environmental Department, and local residents, rolled up their sleeves to mark International Coastal Cleanup Day.

From Lamu Island Seafront to Shela, we cleared waste and debris, restoring the beauty of our shoreline and protecting marine life.

✨By working together, we not only cleaned our coast but also reminded the community of the importance of protecting our ocean for generations to come.

This is more than a cleanup , it’s a commitment to our environment, our future, and each other.

World First Aid Day 2025 wasn’t just marked, it was lived.

Kenya Red Cross, Safaricom and NTSA turned Nairobi into a training ground, with crash simulations, quick-response drills and open-to-all lessons that put lifesaving skills in people’s hands.

The message was clear: first aid isn’t for someone else, it’s for all of us.

Making Waves for Change in Lamu 🌊🏊‍♂️

On 10th August 2025, the Kenya Red Cross Lamu Branch was honored to be part of the inaugural Weekly Swimming Competition on Lamu Island — proudly organized by Amu Youth Swimming Club and graciously presided over (and sponsored) by Dr. Mbarak M. Bahjaj, DG/CECM #005.

The vibrant event brought together energetic youth aged 10 to 20 years, setting the stage for a tradition that will now be held every Sunday afternoon — fostering fitness, nurturing talent, and steering our young people away from harmful vices such as drug abuse. 💪🌱

Our team was on the ground ensuring safety oversight, first aid support, and hydration for all participants, in collaboration with the Kenya Coast Guard Service 🚤🤝.

We celebrate this milestone in youth empowerment and community safety — proving that sports truly can be a force for positive change.

🏢✨ Lamu Branch in Action – Living the Spirit of Service ✨🏢

In line with our slogan “60 Years of Serving Communities”, the Kenya Red Cross Lamu Branch has been actively refreshing and beautifying our space — a quiet but meaningful effort to uphold the values we represent.

With the unwavering support of our dedicated volunteers, we’ve cleaned the branch surroundings, applied fresh coats of paint from the rehab centre to the main offices, and created a more welcoming environment for both staff and community.

These small acts reflect the bigger picture: service, dignity, and the Red Cross commitment to humanity — every day.
