Political leadership is one of the key pathways through which citizens can participate in decision-making and shape the future of our country, Kenya.

During our NYC sensitization baraza at Lumshi, we were impressed to meet young people who are embracing and practising the politics of unity, inclusion and representation.

Our discussion centred around important questions:

Who is the NYC aspirant from your ward?
Are you aware of the NYC elections?
Do you know how to become an NYC aspirant?
Do you know how to register and participate as an NYC voter?

These are some of the questions we engaged with as we encouraged young people to understand their role in leadership and decision-making.

Youth participation matters. Youth leadership matters. And informed youth participation strengthens our democracy.

We are youths, and youths are our business! 🔥

K**a wewe ni youth na unahitaji Sisi,! unatupatia location, unatuambia time unapatikana, then tunafika mahali uko. Simple! No excuses. 😄

Vijana wa Lumshi walituambia wako available majioni, so tukasema why not? Tukafika wakati wako, tukakaa nao, tukasema nao.

Leo jioni tumekuwa na kikao na vijana wa Lumshi kuhusu National Youth Council (NYC). Tumeongea mambo kadhaa — NYC ni nini, inahusu nini, nani ana-qualify kuchaguliwa k**a NYC delegate, uchaguzi wa NYC inakaa aje, ina benefits gani kwa sisi vijana, na maswali mengine ambayo vijana walikuwa nayo.

Na kitu ingine muhimu, hii sensitization ni responsibility yetu k**a vijana kwa vijana. Hatuwezi kusema vijana washiriki kwenye opportunities k**a hawajui zinahusu nini. Lazima information ifike kwa youth mahali wako na wakati wako.

Na ndio maana tunasema:

Unatupatia location.
Unatupatia time.
Tunafika.
Tunasema.
Tunasikiliza.
Tunajenga pamoja. 🤝🏽

NYC MASHINANI — Bringing NYC Closer to the Youth !!

Ikiwa sehemu ya commitment na initiative yetu ya kusogeza information ya NYC karibu na vijana wa mashinani — vijana kwa vijana.

Leo Jioni ,in partnership with Siasa Place tuliungana na vijana wenzetu pale Jipendeni Primary School Grounds kwa youth baraza ya kuhamasisha na kuelimishana kuhusu National Youth Council

Pamoja na Mr. Hesbon na Mr. David Baya, ambao ni NYC aspirants, tulijadiliana na vijana kuhusu NYC, uchaguzi wake na nafasi ya vijana katika uongozi.

Lakini observation yetu ni clear: vijana wengi bado hawajui NYC ni nini, inafanyaje kazi na inawahusu vipi.

Fikirini Jacobs na CEO wa National Youth Council Kenya are you sure vijana wa mashinani wamefikiwa vya kutosha? 🤔

NYC cannot be online only. The youth at the grassroots must know, participate and be heard.

Leo Atlas Youth Organization Kwa ushirikiano na Siasa Place tulikaa na vijana wa Witu ward Kwa Jericho Primary School grounds, kwa mazungumzo ya vijana kwa vijana kuhusu
National Youth council.

Tukaulizana: NYC ni nini? Inafanyaje kazi? Inamsaidiaje kijana? Nani anastahili kuwa aspirant? Nani anastahili kuwa voter? Qualifications ni gani? Na uchaguzi wa NYC unafanyika aje?

Tulikuwa pamoja na Mr. Hesbon na Mr. David Baya, ambao ni aspirants, wakieleza sera zao na kuwasihi vijana wa Jericho na Witu Ward kwa ujumla wajisajili k**a NYC voters na kushiriki katika uchaguzi.

Lakini swali linabaki: Gloria Wairimu, CEO wa National Youth Council Kenya pamoja na Fikirini Jacobs Fikirini Jacobs, PS for Youth Affairs , are you sure vijana wa mashinani wana information ya kutosha kuhusu NYC? Je, mmefikia vijana mashinani, ama information imeishia zaidi kwenye mitandao?

Ni njia gani mwafaka mnatumia kuhakikisha kila kijana anafikiwa? Kwa sababu leo tumekutana na vijana wachache sana wenye ufahamu wa kutosha kuhusu NYC.

Information is power!!!. Vijana lazima wajue,!!! washiriki na wawe sehemu ya decision making. !!!!

WITU SECONDARY SCHOOL NEEDS OUR ATTENTION !!

At 64 years since Kenya gained independence, it is worrying that Witu Secondary School still operates without a proper fence, putting students, teachers and school property at risk of insecurity and other dangers.

The school borders the Boni/Baferzone Forest, making a secure fence even more important for the safety of everyone in the school.

Some of the school facilities, including classrooms and the kitchen, are also in very poor condition and urgently need attention.

The school administration is calling upon the relevant government offices and leaders to take action and address these challenges.

As a community, we are also appealing for more investment in Witu Secondary School to create a safer and better learning environment for our children. Improving this school is not only an investment in Witu, but also an investment in the future of Lamu County.

Witu Secondary School is one of the oldest schools in Lamu County. It deserves better. Our children deserve better.

Let us come together and make education infrastructure a priority. 🙏🏾

So who is responsible for Proper learning Environment??

How long will learners at Maleli Primary School, Lamu West continue studying in unsafe mud-walled classrooms while an unfinished classroom project sits abandoned?
Public resources are meant to deliver safe learning spaces not half-built projects and broken promises.
Lamu County leaders must answer: Where did the funds go? Why was the project abandoned? Who is responsible and when will these classrooms be completed?
