A powerful milestone worth celebrating 🎓✨

Thirty bright high school graduates have successfully completed an intensive two-month training program covering computer studies, legal literacy, financial and entrepreneurship skills, and first aid trainings. This impactful initiative was organized by the Lamu Organization for Youth and PWDS (LOYD) in partnership with the Lamu County Public Service Board, aimed at equipping young people with practical skills for their future.

Their graduation took place during the Annual Lamu County Career Day 2026, where they were awarded certificates by distinguished leaders including Lamu County Deputy Governor Dr. Mbarak Bahjaj, Professor Othman Mujahid and Dr. Hassan Kinywa Omari.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our valued partners: Khairat Foundation, MUHURI, KNCCI Lamu Chapter, Red Cross Lamu Branch, and Lamu Tech Hub, for their support and contribution towards shaping a skilled, empoweredand future-ready generation.

As part of our ongoing two-month course, our students successfully completed a two-day Legal Literacy Training facilitated by MUHURI (Muslims for Human Rights).

The training covered key areas including:
• Introduction to Human Rights Principles
• Documentation and Reporting of Human Rights Violations
• Understanding the Process of Filing a Legal Case
• Gender Concepts: Gender, Gender Equity, and Gender Equality
• Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and its Types
• Community-Based Advocacy Tools, including SWOT Analysis

This impactful session equipped our students with essential knowledge and practical tools to become informed, responsible, and proactive members of society.

Upon completion of the training, all participants were awarded certificates in recognition of their commitment and active participation.

As part of our comprehensive two-month training program for 30 high school graduates, we dedicated one full week to an intensive First Aid training conducted by the Kenya Red Cross Society – Lamu Branch.

The training equipped our students with essential lifesaving skills, including emergency response, basic life support, wound management, and how to confidently handle real-life emergencies. Beyond certificates, they gained practical knowledge that empowers them to act responsibly and serve their communities when it matters most.

We remain committed to nurturing skilled, confident, and community-oriented youth ready to make a difference.

As part of our ongoing two-month course, we were honored to host a powerful two-day religious session led by Enes Sagcan, Regional Director of Hayrat Foundation from Turkey, held at Lamu Tech Hub.

The session was a moment of reflection, guidance, and spiritual growth for our students. We are proud to share that participants were awarded certificates in recognition of their dedication and active participation.

Week 3 and the momentum keeps growing! 🚀📚

Our Career Progression Program is now in its third week, and the transformation is visible. This initiative is proudly implemented in partnership with Lamu Organization for Youth and PWDS (LOYD),Lamu County Public Service , Lamu Tech Hub, and other key stakeholders committed to empowering our youth.

From Digital Literacy and First Aid to Financial Guidance, Legal Trainings, and Mental Health Awareness — our students are actively building practical skills that will shape their future.

The commitment and engagement in class reflect the power of collaboration and shared vision. This is more than training — it’s empowerment in action as we prepare towards the upcoming Lamu County Career Day.
